Hi Real instructif forum i have a PH-1 phaser with clear switch Ink stamped 8900 silver screw ,no modification on PC board and wires. But the LED does not act as momentary, is this possible on a PH-1 with clear switch Thank
Your PH-1 seem to be a very late specimen with the clear switch, and a very early pedal with the continous LED.
The pedal might very well be original, but could also have been modified for continous LED so you should open the pedal up and check for that. Look up a PH-1 schematic on the web and compare. The modification is quite easy to reverse though, if it has been done.
For what it's worth if a pedal was ever sent in to Boss for service they might have performed that service of changing the momentary LED to Continuous. The Service Notes often note how to make that modification on other pedals that came with Momentary LED's.
The permanent LED was in most cases introduced with serial numbers 9000 and 9001. A little time after this all schematics was released in new versions where it was noted that they applied from serial number 9000 or 9001. I don't have the complete PH-1 schematic so I'm not sure at which serial they changed the circuit.
The clear switch disappeared in most cases around serial 8700 but that's only based on observations. There's only a month between each serial number increment so it's not that surprising to find that a clear switch was used 2 months after they normally started using black switches.
