Hello,
Is anyone familiar with the numbering system, for OD-1 pedals, that have the serial number 0000. That is 4 zeros. I have the pedal, with that serial number, it has the metal screw, and all the trade marks, of the first pedals. But, I'm not sure where it fits in the BOSS OD-1 line up, and what it is worth. I hope someone may enlighten me as to the insight of these pedals. Thank you. |

It looks like the serial number system started at 6400 November 1977. Each month the serial number was increased (6500, 6600 and so on). It only took 3 years for the numbering system to roll over from 9900 to 0000. They kept using it up until 0500 when they instead started using the 6 digit system with serial numbers in the battery compartment.
The serial number decoder can help you date any Boss pedal. http://www.bossarea.com/serial/sndecoder.aspx Well, almost. There are some mystery numbers that still can't be decoded but for 99% it checks out.
I'm sure you've already visited the OD-1 page. That's where you can find that your OD-1 is the D version with the 4558 opamp, black switch and permanent LED. It is difficult to estimate the price. A and B models usually sell for more than $200. The D model is more common but there aren't that many with silver screws so it's priced a little higher than the rest. Maybe $120-$150 depending on condition. |
