Unfortunately I don't have any higher res scans. Can't remember where I got these scans from either. I think they might have been posted on the Jemsite forum a few years back. |

No worries bossarea.
They'll still be fine.
A great find, nonetheless. |

bahaha. i love those guys, Nigel especially. its actually from one of last years Guitar Worlds. i love how he talks about the "Nut Cozy's" and about the organic hair trick. brilliance.
has anyone ever seen Spinal Taps follow up movie "Return Of Spinal Tap?" its just a live show really but it looks like David St. Hubbins (Michael McKean doesnt play his own guitar. it looks like he is "KIDEOing" it. like he had no volume and was just moving his hands around. that must mean that Nigel is twice as good.

"Skip to My Lou" sounds beautiful on an acoustic, but then older folks may only appreciate this one, right???
So when you do your next soundcheck try playing this little ditty, make sure your Marshall knows how to speak, and just look around you to see the reactions on people's faces.
Even better: Play this one as an encoure, just slip it between your main song and the very last one for that reason and enjoy. Yes you may even Jazz here up with some 13ths [hey those chords do sound great, even when your distortion is on full]
Eh Nigel's guitar in the pics.................an Ibanez Joe Satriani model??? Anyone, or am I trying to see things which are not???

Eh just revisting this post,
Heh folks Fotoshop trick or some other kind of genius stuff.
I am quite sure that this article was with Joe Satriani from Guitar Player in Dec. or Nov. 1989, so the pics have just been swappend and the text has been altered.
How do I know: Well the layout of the article is very similar, it is a piece about Joe going through some songs of "Flying in a Blue Dream" which came out in '89.
Funny how one can remember articles eh? I have not seen it for years, but can still remember the layout and the cover of the magazine. I am sure some of you may have seen it too.
Anyway, I like how people have treated this, just another tick eh? I know Bossarea culded it from somewhere else............or did he just.................................
Nan he would not eh, with a website like this one.

Hi Guys I found this, it's not too far off topic.
Download Attachment: 1999-08-02.gif 29.58 KB

Bossarea, I have managed to upload images, but how do I get them to display on the message, & not be listed as a Download Attachment?
Edit: Got it to display the image, Thanks to Stratman for the tip. Regards Dr. Bob |

Hi Dr Bob.
To get the image to display in the actual post put "img" without the quotes and enclosed in square brackets at the start of the url for the pic and then put "/img" also without the quotes and enclosed in square brackets at the end.
Once you've uploaded the pic I think you see what the URL is going to be. If not, when you preview the post, you'll see the URL plus all the other stuff relating to displaying the "Download Attachment" heading in bold etc. You just need the URL, nothing else. Just delete all the rest.
Can't really type it out as the forum will attempt to display the bloody thing! Best I can do is below.
e.g. for this pic it would be ... [ img ]uploaded/Dr.%20Bob/20072249478_1999-08-02.gif[ /img ]
Just remove the spaces inside the square brackets.
That's it
Cool pic by the way!

The article here was on print in Guitar World April 1992. A little searching revealed that the same article can also be found on http://www.spinaltapfan.com/articles/guitarworld2.html.
The guitar is an Ibanez JS3 "Donnie", correctly identified as a Joe Satriani model. I recently saw an interview with Christopher Guest (Nigel Tufnel). He mentioned that he had an extensive guitar collection and Nigel's collection in the spinal tap movie was actually his own guitars. |
