NS-2 every time. The NF-1 is just a simple gate while the NS-2 has some circuitry in there that actually reduces noise. |

Completely offtopic but I'm listening to one of my band's songs right now and your avatar's cowbelling is matching up to the tempo exactly. It's hilarious.

| definately the NS-2 but to maximize the noise suppression, you have to set it up in send/recieve mode. |

| NS-2 cause if its good enough for Yngwie, then its good enough for me. But seriously, I have both pedals, and the NS-2 is more useable and does a better job. |

Plus the NS2 can help power other pedals via a daisy chain Don't know why Roland came out with eight connections when there cases can only hold six. Much like the hot dog/bun thing, 12 hotdogs, and only eight buns... |

It is intresting, I have both but I prefer NF-1 against NS-2. As I can feel NF-1 is total neutral (as it is just a noisegate), it is not touching the sound, NS-2 can have some mid boost what actually can be positive but sometimes definitely not! Last pedal in my chain is NF-1 - now!

I went into sth completely different Boss Pro NS50 half rack It works really cool, not changing the sound at all, just cutting out noise. So there is a 3rd option if some1 is lookin only for Boss... |

I find both usefull for different things:
NF-1 is fantastic after my EH Germanium OD, because in certain positions the power sag dial on the EH generates 2 distinct output levels; distorted when you are playing hard and then as the distortion breaks up you get a clean sound that is a lot quieter. I use the NF-1 to effectively mute the clean sound. So all you get is the very cool "low battery" break up distortion. This doesn't work so well with the NS-2 as it is made to mute noise that isn't your guitar.
NS-2 is awesome after high gain pedals (XT-2, MT-2 etc) just to get rid of that un-holy noise in pauses. |
