Saw that there was Giant Hail and Torrential Rain in the Land of OZ on Sunday in Victoria.
Hope all the Australians are safe and sound with no hail damage.
Hey Disco Stu,
Thanks for your concern.
I'm located in the South Eastern suburbs of Melbourne and we got absolutely pounded with golf ball sized hail on Saturday around 4pm, I thought it was the apocalypse. My Dad's car got completely trashed, dinted all over and a smahed windscreen, fortunately my car was under cover at the time.
Many others were far worse off than us, other suburbs had tennis ball sized hail that smashed in ceramic or concrete tiles roofs completely flooding houses, we have a tin roof luckily.
A few of my friends were stuck in Crown Casino in the city for hours when the bottom level of car park and all surrounding streets were under half a metre of water.
I threw a couple of the hail stones in the freezer, here is a picture compared to a golf ball:
I've seen some video of the flash flooding in the CBD (on facebook not youtube unfortunately). The streets turned to rivers in about 30mins. Kind of crazy.
Whats really scary is a few weeks back Dr Bob sent me a pic of some of the tarmacadam from the road surface sticking to the tyres on his car because it was so hot and now you guys are getting hailstones the size of golfballs and torrential rain and flash floods.....if one of those hailstones hit you on the head it would split you open...take care all in OZ......
Wow I can't believe you guys heard about that? It was quite a crazy day. I was driving my car at the time when it started. I couldn't see! My car/house was fine but my aunties house was trashed. Pretty brutal day
