a buddy of mine sent me this link...keep in mind I know we're not allowed to talk politics and if we try we don't need to go into that territory and this def. applies to all musicians in the land of Oz...that being said I guess in the land down under it's a crime to listen to "offensive" music ...freakin crazy man!!!! http://www.infowars.com/teen-nathan-wilkie-arrested-for-playing-offensive-rap-music-from-car/ if the moderators want to delete this thread then I understand and like I said not trying to get into a political debate... I just figured our members in Australia would like to know this...if they don't already. |

Wow, that's pretty heavy man! Over here in Philly they've enacted a noise nuicense law, aimed at bumpin bass from trunk mounted subs.but I guess that could apply to any bass heavy music. You know what the Harley guys say "Loud Pipes Save Lives", so ... If you can hear a car comin'! |

I've been following Alex Jones for a while now myself.
I remember this...

We have freedom of speech. You are free to say whatever you want in Australia as long as you aren't doing it in an offensive manner. All up Australia is probably a more free society than America.
On the other hand you also can't just go around in public being offensive (I assume the lyrics of the music contain offensive themes and/or words). I don't know the details of this case and I haven't heard of this happening before. Hopefully it's not going to set a precedent. Usually this sort of thing just gets you a warning from the police.

But does your "Freedom of Speech" in Australia allow you to sacrifice Shellfish, Goats and Popcorn in the middle of the street as part of your Religion ??
Here in uh, New England, it's perfectly OK, after 7 PM, when the commuters are done parking, and the TV news is happening |

Touche Stu!... Well, I'm not sure about that. Shellfish and popcorn yes (as long as you cleaned up the mess afterwards), but goats probably not. I think you may have me beat on that one
I remember someone being arrested for sacrificing a goat in Melbourne a while back, but I think it had more to do with the fact they had stolen it from a petting zoo and slit it's throat in front of some kids. It was put down to cultural misunderstanding, as the guy who did it had just arrived as a refugee from Afghanistan.
Please note I did say that Australia is probably a more free society... Freedom is a difficult thing to measure, and well, I could just be wrong - I've been wrong before, and let's face it, It's bound to happen again |

...def. not funny BUT for some reason I find the idea of a guy stealing a goat from a petting zoo to sacrifice to his god pretty amusing... all the while not thinking he's doing wrong...I think it says something about your country though when your judicial system at least understood his actions were not malicious and didn't lock him up for the rest of his life or something ...over here if you sacrificed a goat in front of a group of kids(no matter what the cause)you'd be up shit creek without a paddle...let alone you'd have Billy Graham crawlin' up yer arse! |

Yeah, I'm glad we're at least a bit chilled out about stuff like that here... Which is why this offensive music incident is a bit worrying.
