Hey guys, since yesterday I've been experiencing my first problems with my DD-3. It's the most recent version made in Taiwan. My problem is that I get no sound whatsoever when plugging out to my amp, however the direct out jack works. Everything powers fine, and I'm using the boss adapter that came with it. I'm trying to open it from the bottom to look if I could maybe solder something for a quick fix... The board seems attached in there pretty well and I dont want to pull too hard at the risk of maybe breaking something, so I can't really get a good look. Anyone have some suggestions? What should I look for? Thanks

Hi justin_sane

Welcome to the forum form Australia.

Can you remember what happened to the DD-3 before it started playing up?
Accidental or other wise.

Please check it with a KNOWN GOOD battery.

Is it a genuine PSA adapter? not an ACA?
You may have a problem with the Boss adapter.

Check it as a stand alone pedal, connected to nothing but the guitar leads & the amp.

Check it with known good leads, or another set of leads.
Basically eliminate everything but the pedal.

thanks for the warm welcome all...
anyway, before it started not working, it took a fall from my amp...it was resting there and i accidentally knocked it off off a 2x12 combo, not too tall, but nonetheless....
i'm almost positive it's related to the pedal, as i tried the exact same adapter with my friend's boss chorus and it worked fine, and i've never had troubles with it before (it came with the pedal).

i just bought the thing brand new a couple years ago. :( turns out the 5 year boss warranty only covers parts and labor is only covered for 90 days. i called boss and they want to charge me $35 an hour for labor...i'd really like to avoid this if i can, but then again i don't want to mess up my pedal and possibly void my warranty in the process.

what do you guys think?

EDIT: it is indeed a PSA120 power adapter.

Hi justin_sane and welcome!

If the direct out works, then we can tell the pedal has power and is working at some level (the direct out is buffered in these pedals, and requires 9VDC on the board to operate).

I'd say something has come adrift from the fall. It is possible to carefully pull trhe board out - it swings open like a door, with the "hinges" at the end with the 9VDC jack. Careful and slow and you should be fine.

Once it is open, take some high-res pics of the internals and let us have a look.
