Hi,

First, I'd like to say this website & forum rawks! I've being playing guitar since '94 and, recently, I've been bit by the pedal bug. My current pedal rig is: DS-1, HM-2, XT-2, NF-1, SCH-1 (arion), DD-3 and a TU-2.

I picked up a NF-1 and it has an 'issue'...maybe. I lose at least 50% of my volume signal when the sensitivity control is set at 7 o'clock (zero). The volume returns when the knob is turned past 8 o'clock. I tried out another NF-1 and it has the same 'issue.' Have any of you had a similar experience with the NF-1? If so, what's your take (design flaw, intended function, bad component, VR3/VR4 re-calibration)?

First & foremost - Welcome to Bossarea!!!
Second, nice chain & VERY nice choices, short & sweet. You already fit in this forum nicely.
& to the issue at hand. I do not own an NF-1, but given the age of the unit, I would question the pot, regardless of a second similar experience. Have you tried to clean it at all? Working the knob (un-intended sexual inuendo) or contact cleaner, before replacing is a prudent option.
I'm sure some of the more experienced members will be fairly quick to help you as well. Pretty good bunch of folks here. I'm probably the "bad-egg" outta the bunch. I hope you find wisdom here, let alone lend some.

WELCOME!!!!

I think this is normal. Mine does it too, and the function of the unit is unaffected.

I have a new on e comeing next week... I'll see if that one does it too.

Hi m3_entity

Welcome to the forum from Australia.

As Laurie said, I believe this is a function of the pedal.
The NF-1 is one pedal that I still don't have.

I guess you know the " Secret of the SCH-1" else you would be using a CE-2...

I have a couple of Arion SCH-1's, one Boxed & in storage.

Is yours the all black case one, or the rarer Grey bottom section one?
They are identical in function & circuit wise, it seems that there were a few SCH-1's made in grey, & they command a slightly higher price.

It's one of the wettest sounding chorus pedals I have heard or collected to date.
And that's saying a lot, considering my appreciation of the Boss CE-2's.

Regards Dr. Bob

Thanks everyone!!!

D-T - This forum has helped me a lot with organizing my pedal board. I did try to clean the pot but no luck.

Laurie - I could understand this pedal having this type of affect when the sensitivity control is set to the maximum. It really is odd. But like you said, it doesn't hinder the functionality of the pedal and I am ok with it.

Dr. Bob - I have the grey version of the SCH-1, albiet, in poor condition but it works. I got lucky with this little gem. I snatched it up for $20 about a decade ago and I am amazed by the going rate for these units. Sometimes I turn the rate & depth to zero and use it as a tone boast. I really dig the metallic freeze-dried vibe I get from this thing.
