Hi,
Since I'm switching to rack, I have to leave the onboard spring reverb of my combo (Carvin Legacy). I just like a straightforward fullsounding reverb as you would hear playing let's say in a church. If been trying different multifx racks/pedals, and all these reverbs zound so synthetic. I'm not afraid of the 12-bit stuff. My DD-3 is just the perfect delay pedal for my. I only use it very subtle. It just enrichens my sound, and that is what I'd expect from a good reverb as well. Thx Mike |

I love RRV-10, you can get so many sweet types of reverb out of it and certain settings I like more than a good spring reverb. Too get a true replica of a spring reverb is not that easy due to the plonk-sound of the springs in a tank. But the plonk is not something people are looking for in good spring reverbs OK if you play surf music. There is no digital harshness at all in RRV-10, its the best digital reverb I ever heard FOR guitar. I like it so much that I traded my Fender Reverb unit away, I didnt need it any more.

Hi Goran & Guys The RRV-10, must be really good, I will have to try to listen to one.
I know I can't live without the sound of the Acutronics LONG spring reverb tank, in my Vintage Fender 75 amp. It's set very subtle, just enough, to enhance the sound, & feel of my playing.

You cant replicate a spring reverb with RRV-10 to 100%, but are spring reverb the ultimate reverb for guitar??? We are so used to it that anything that doesnt sound like it we automatically dislike. I love spring reverbs a lot, my ears are used to them But some spring reverbs are not that good, the one in Fender Blues Jr I dont like very much. Blues Jr has a very short reverb tank, and I think that all amps Ive heard with the small tank sounds quite bad/not so good. RV-5 has a spring type of reverb (digital), with plonk, and that one sounds really bad to my ears. RRV-10 is a little scarce but you often find them quite cheap. I dont know anything of the reliability of older digital stuff but mine has worked fine for some years now.

Thax for the input. I don't need the Surfer plonk, jsut a warm soundy reverb.
Is the RRV footswitchable ? My 19" fx has amp switching, so that would be handy. |

| Yes RRV-10 can be switched on/off with a footswitch, if I remember right its the unlatched type. |

Hi Pmike
Please give us some feedback after you get it & have tried it out.
Goran got me thinking about buying one, after his favorable comments.

Hi guys,
Sorry, a little later than expected :
http://soniq.passiomatic.com/81/untitled (I had to download it to be able to hear it tough)
It's very basic and repetive for the sake of the effect and me not having to stress out ;)
Setup : Ibanez JEM7DBK (Breed pickups) -> RRV10 -> SB audigy line in. RRV10 settings : Decay, tone, effect 12 o'clock. dry signal 100% I'll be turning the reverb type clockwise
1. RRV10 Fx turned off. 2. Room 1 3. Room 2 4. Hall 1 5. Hall 2 6. Plate 1 7. Plate 2 8. Multi tap 1 (delay) 9. Multi tap 2 (reverse) 10. Gated 11. 2min15->end switching some pickups and reverb types.
Now what do I think about it : I sounds surprisingly warm. I'll problably only use 1 or 2 of these reverb, the one that comes closest to a spring reverb, has no stutter, what you hear when you would play in a church bassically. I still have to fiddle around with the amount and decay to get there. Most types tend to start sounding a little processed when the decay is turned up too much.
I hope this little review was informative for you. If you have any questions, shoot ;) |

Hi Pmike Most of the reverbs sound very warm, even analog. Thanks for your effort & the link.
I uploaded a file to the site called Midnight Traffic if you want to go have a listen, well for the next 30 days at least. Listen with your biggest speakers 10 inch or more. Sorry about the blatant plug, but this went public in 2004 on a bunch of corporate DVD's

Thanks again Regards Dr. Bob |

Hey Dr Bob,
Funny, I always expect to hear guitars when I think of Boss.
Moody sounding track you made, sounds really good. ;) |

Hi Pmike. Thanks for the listen & complement, but like I said, It's not the music I would normally write or play. It was done for commercial purposes, it's what the Promotional video director & creator wanted. He ended up using various bits of it, on 4 separate Video-DVD's.
I listen to it now & then, when I need to pick up my pace a bit. It was mixed down from a 17 track mix with a bunch of extra controller tracks. Some time later, I did a major Re-Mix of this track, for non-commercial reasons. I called it the Saturn Mix, it has a fuller feel. I love rock & Blues, Classical, Fusion & almost anything, except Punk.
Hey Alien DNA, did you read the previous line?
Regards Dr. Bob |
