for guitar, I rarely use distortion boxes, since I use my amp for distortion, but it looks something like this:
PQ-4 --> SD-1 [Analog Man mod or MIJ] --> CE-2 --> DD-3 --> amp
sometimes I also throw my PH-1r, BF-2, or HF-2 in there, usually at the front end.
for bass, my amp is loud but very clean (GK 800RB), so I use a ODB-3 or FZ-2 (to get a seriously distorted Ampeg SVT-esque tone) for dirt:
(PS-2) --> PQ-3B --> ODB-3 [or FZ-2] --> CE-2B --> amp
the PS-2 was used in its 'octave up' mode to crudely approximate the sound of a 12-string bass, and was removed from my bass setup when my used 12vr arrived. |

Its seldom I use the same setup, I dont use a pedalboard. But two pedals are allways with me: BD-2 and DM-2, they are the foundation to my sound, DM-2 with short delaytime (used as a tone-thickener). If I use my CS-2 its first in the chain followed by BD-2. Often I then put DM-2 followed by DC-3. And if Im playing more flipped out music I add DD-20 last in the chain, and/or FZ-2 after the CS-2. But it varies a lot what I use, thats the fun side of having a lot of pedals to choose from. |

Here's my setup. Guitar>CS-2>SD-1>Real Tube OD>H&K Warp Factor Dist>PH-2>CE-2>DD-2>Input of a Marshall 9004 preamp. In the preamps effects loop I have BF-2>NF-1>EH-2>DD-3>CE-3 (stereo outs into stereo return) This set up gives me most of the sounds I'm after. |

| I use a DMC system to switch pedals in and out of the signal path. It has 8 loops. My signal first goes through a THD Valvulator then to a Morley Bad Horsie Wah, an Ernie Ball Volume pedal, and a Rocktron Banshee Talk-Box. It then heads to the DMC GCX 1)SD-1 2)Line 6 POD 3)GE-6 4)CE-2 5)BF-2 6)PH1r 7)DM-2 8)I use this loop as a MIDI continuous controller for a Roland GR-30 synth's hold function. The output from the GCX goes through a MXR Micro-Amp and a NS-2 that are always on to both boost and quiet my tortured signal chain. The final stop is a Tech21 Trademark 120 amp |

As far as I remember (the order of these* two I can't remember):
(Ibanez TS9 w/mods)->(Boss GE-7 MIJ w/mods)*->(Vox V847 wah w/ electronic bypass)*->(Dunlop Uni-Vibe w/ footcontroller)->(Boss BF-2 MIJ)->(Boss CE-2 MIT)
I have some other pedals in need of repair. And I should get/build a compressor/limiter.
Musician's Friend reccomends (compressor)->(overdrive/distortion)->(pitch shifter)->(frequency stuff)->(modulators)->(delay). Having your overdrive/distortion before the other stuff provides more interesting sounds (which is why I do it), but technically overdrive makes more sense at the end of the chain because it boosts the signal into the amp (before there were pedals people would overdrive just by turning the volume up really high). Pearl Jam's Stone Gossard puts his TS9 earlier in the path (after the volume and wah pedals), but Pearl Jam's Mike McCready puts his TS9 last. M's F thinks pitch shifters sound better after overdrive/distortion, but if I had one I would put it after the compressor. Not to mention a TU-2 would be nice before all of that stuff. Tremolo/vibrato, whatever you want to call the effect that modulates your volume (both names have been screwed up by musical electronics manufacturers), should come last, as if it were built into your amplifier, but heck it might sound really cool before your delay.
My advice would be to try some different things and see what works for you. We've given you some ideas, and you may want to try finding some of your favorite artist's setups online and emulate what they do. |

Changes from week to week but... Big Muff->Silver Screw DS-1->Boss AW-2->MXR 70s blue 10-band eq-> MXR microamp->MXR D+ ->MXR phase 45 or Boss PH-1r->Danelectro tremolo->Boss BF-2->George Dennis volume->Boss PS-3->Ibanez DL-10 delay->MXR stereo chorus (then to two amps in stereo- Fender Super 210 all tube and Vox Cambridge 30R hybrid).
Does anyone read this? Or are we all just showing off? Or thinking that we have something to show off?? |

I read yours and you must be showing off because that's the biggest pedalboard that I have ever heard of, excepting those BOSS demo boards that they have in The Guitar Center locations that have every current Boss pedal on one plastic... thing... |
