I found the grommets at my local ace hardware store.

I called Roland yesterday and i believe he said it is called a pedal guide bushing and when i asked for dimension numbers of the (grommet)he could not find them. Surprise

Anyway we can add this to our list.

$.35 is a lot better than $5, which leaves more money left over for the G.A.S. that happens after I look at some of the other threads. Thanks for the tips guys, that'll save a lot of money!

I can buy you a bag of 100 non-orignal grommets from the local electronics store and mail them. PM me and we'll figure out payment etc.

Where did this rumour start that Roland sell them for $5?

We are talking about the guide bush that fits in the hole around the thumbscrew, right?

I'm here staring at an invoice from Roland UK and they only cost me 10p each when I bought them direct from them about 3 weeks ago (about $0.16 each) so maybe the person looked up the wrong part or something? The hardware shop versions for 35c are actually nearly double the cost of the OE version!

Or maybe they included the postage charge on the price for 1 grommet or something?

I can't believe they would put >3000% profit on a componant for the US market area - if they do; then I'm off to America to open a rubber grommet shop!!!!

Can anyone else verify the price Roland charge in the US for these?

Here in Canada, they are $1 each plus shipping.

Nuts.......and yet Laurie picked up a original RE-301 tape echo for around $250 and i spotted one for sale in the U.K for 450 only the other day....... it's very strange how some stuff in Canada and the U.S.A is so cheap especially on the secondhand market,Craigslist and ebay etc.... compared to europe and with something ridiculous like a rubber grommet it's the other way around.... i'd rather pay top whack for the grommets if i could get vintage roland tape echoes for 250 bucks.............

Thats quite a big variation in price but a lot more reasonable -

Maybe they're not the same grommets I guess?

I'm thinking maybe a lot of the componants of Boss pedals are not all made by Boss themselves and are made by other manufacturers; maybe some of these things things like screws, leds, rubber bushes etc etc etc they source from local suppliers depending on whichever country they are operating in, rather than face huge shipping bills and import taxes for such low value items?

On the topic of verification of the pedal guide bushing price.
The rep i spoke to on the phone monday said that the shipping alone was $6.00 usd and the bushing for 1 was $4.60 a piece usd. Now when i said that's crazy to the rep he said hold and i'll talk to my manager and then he returned to the phone with a $2.00 usd a piece price.
So i think they can charge whatever they feel like for the part.
I think we need to get some Roland clarification on these prices so the insanity can stop. I think it's utterly ridiculous for us to have to go through all this searching and scrounging when we have paid many a hard earned dollar on these pedals to be shafted on replacement parts. Especially with us being here promoting and helping there buisness do nothing but grow. These parts are not made of gold so why charge for them like they are. I'm calling them monday to get this figured out. If i don't get the answers we need, i say we could just bombard them with our opinions and become legion. :) Neaves

This is also my experience. When I was initially discussing buying stuff direct (they only usually sell to authorised repair shops), the parts guy said "all the small stuff is $2 a piece" (bushings, screws, etc.). After some discussion, it came down to $1 per piece for the little stuff, which is OK for me because I only use it for reconditioning the more valuable pedals for my collection ($5 for a bushing and set of base screws for a DD-2 that will be worth $100+ after the repair seems OK to me). If I was in the business of repairing pedals for money, the price would be crippling and I guess I'd need to somehow get listed as an authorised repair shop.

last week i ordered a base plate and bottom rubber, i was suprised with the costs, 0.96 for the metal base plate and 0,66 for the bottom rubber, that's a lot cheaper than expected!
I am anxious about the prices of these in the USA?

Ok,so we need to check prices for,Also i'm adding some stuff not really covered.

Bottom Rubber for plate
Bottom Plate
Toe Rubber
Thumbscrews
Pedal Guide Bushing
Knobs colored cap inlcuding tone knobs for 3 knob pedals like the sd-1 and will throw in the blues driver/od-3 knobs because they have a gold cap.
And replacement boxes for current models.

I've bought all of those within the last month so I can give the UK prices for them all tomorrow (I'm away for the weekend)

When you say replacement boxes, do you mean the metal shells or the cardboard boxes?
