wide range here.
depends on how thrifty you are and what version, condition, box/manual, etc.
i got my 1980 silver screw in 7/10 condition for $55. i got a NOS 1983 for $60 i got a 9/10 MIT ~'91 for $50 my friend got a mint 1988 blue bottom MIJ w/ box/manual for $50 last summer i found a black screw black bottom in 8.5/10 for $25 about a month ago i found a MIT in 7/10 for $60
imo, under $75 for an MIJ is feasible if you are patient.
under $100 if you are impatient and/or need to have a silver screw.
probably won't find an MIT for under $60 unless you get lucky (i've seen BIN's for $40 before)

ebay has a load available right now.. 4 in canada. Lots of SS, even a few boxed. All BIN prices $100-$225! (decent indicator of what the seller thinks it's worth)
I got all mine for great prices.. one as low as $25, but I think those days are mostly past us now. In the meantime, we get to watch the prices of our other rare pedals fall! |

right now i know of two in stock locally,
1 is an MIJ for $100 1 is an MIT for $70
both are in good shape. gone through waves where there's like 10-12 locally and that's when the prices are most competitive. when they pop up on craigslist they're in the $75-90 range. |

I got my MIT Ce-2 for about 35 off evilbay, no box though. I guess second hand shops are always worth a look, I've picked up one or two guitar bargains in the past, amongst all the no name guitars and old television sets |

I got very lucky and came across one locally for $35. Silver screw in very good condition.
But I just attributed this to karma to even out for the fake MIJ DS-1 I paid $50 for on eBay(MIT w/MIJ bottom plate) |

Hi jak84 Now that's a great find & bargain, and SS as well. What sort of condition was the CE-2 in? Box? Manual? Please post some pics if you can.
As for the fake (shonkie) DS-1, did you report him to evilbay? What was his & their response?
Still I think you're right about the Karma.

Hi Dr.Bob,
I went to get my CE-2 for a photo and I'm a bit embarassed to realize that I was thinking of and referring to my SS PH-1 that I picked up for that price. My CE-2 in actuality is not a silver screw; it is a lowly black screw green label MIJ that I picked up 2 yrs ago for the price of $57(no box or manual). I apologize to everyone for the misrepresentation.
The DS-1, I'd have to see if I have anything from the original eBay post to see if there was an intentional deception. I can't remember why I didn't pursue anything on it. It was a MIT with the, I don't remember how you say, integrated ac port and the bottom plate had a MIJ sticker and the cutout for the 'non integrated' port. What was worse, and I'm not sure why I didn't investigate further, is the fact that the plate was backwards(the cutout was opposite where the port was)but a couple of the screws were half secured and cross-threaded! I believe this was early on in my Boss buying and eBaying experiences, so maybe I was a bit naive and timid at the time....Now that I think about it again.. I'm a bit pissed off
..ah well, we live and we learn... and live to ride another day
Nice hearing from ya Dr.Bob and again, sorry for the confusion |

Please don't run yourself down. Any CE-2, is a good CE-2, even my MIT's sounds great. Green label MIJ's are harder to come by here in Oz.
I still don't have a PH-1r, but will someday soon. As for the DS-1, at least you can experiment with some mods on it, & not feel bad about modding a MIJ pedal.
While I am still to do it, the MelanHead DS-1mod sound really great to my old ears, but there are many good sounding DS-1 mods out there, it just depends on what sound your looking for.

According to my research , based on ebay sales since Oct 2007, mainly in the UK...
The CE-2 Report 87 sold. Of which 22 were good-to-mint and boxed. Average Price (All): 61.33 Average Price (MIJ): 68.91 Average for Boxed good-to-mint (MIT & MIJ): 75.29 Most paid: 128 The steady rise in average price reached a peak towards the end of Feb 2008 and since then has been gradually dropping, putting the current average where we were in mid Jan 2008.

Hi williamh Congrats. on you CE-2 find.
If you don't mind, for Bossarea's database. Was it MIT or MIJ? S/n paper label or ink stamp? Label Colour? SS or Black screw? Long or short dash?
