I take delivery of this unit after work today & understand that I can plug my guitar into it & then into my Moog synthesizer. As long as you play cleanly, it'll convert the notes into MIDI pitch values. You can use it with any most any MIDI tone-generator or sound module. Its monophonic only which is perfect for my synth, it supports +/- 2 semitone pitch-bends, & note-on velocity information.

I play the guitar much better than keys so I'm hoping this will allow me to run explore some solos & pads while fiddling with the synth knobs. In order to switch between patches I was thinking about picking up the Tech21 MIDI Mouse:

Since the Philip Rees MIDI Merge units have been discontinued & the MIDI Mouse & Sonuus G2M each have only one MIDI output, I found:

Ok, the Sonuus arrived today.
I've been running through all my patches on my Casio keyboard & Moog synthesizer.

Quite fun actually. I see this as a poor-man's Roland GR-20 without the need for a GK-3 pickup. I liked the the GR-20 very much & of course it tracks way better than the Sonuus unit. Nevertheless, single note runs played cleanly provides great possibilities running your guitar through almost any MIDI enabled sound module.

It sounds pretty damned good with its 2-semitone pitch bend support. I do recommend loosely tying a bandana across the 1st fret to increase the tracking accuracy. I'll give it a thumb-up.

Hi DeFrag

Sounds lie you have been having a heap of fun over at your house.

Do you think it's on-stage usable?
Or is it more of a studio tool?

I'm looking for replacement for my non-MIDI GR-300 Guitar synth.
And sadly my XG-1m UniSynth controller has gone too far south , to repair.

I have/was looking at the GR-20
but our dollar dropped a lot,
after the US loans fiasco, and is slowly recovering.

Live use is soley dependent on the ability to play very cleanly for accurate tracking. Studio use is a better bet.

No matter the monetary decline, you should always buy the right thing the 1st time. The Sonuus is monophonic but does a decent job. The Roland GR-20 & its GK-3 pickup is certainly a step ahead but the Sonuus unit is versatile & can drive anything with a MIDI input. So its limited but a great entry into MIDI conversion.

Hi Defrag

Thanks for added the info.

Like I said above, I used to live & die,
by my XG-1m UniSynth Guitar Controller, Until the fretboard finally gave out on me.

I really do miss her , it was the most responsive & fastest Controller I have ever played.

Some pictures & info here:

I'm about to score an Korg X-911 Guitar Synth.. also doesn't need a hex- or dedicated pickup, just 1/4" in. It has some fun trigger in and out jacks as well..

Once I bring it home, I'll take some pics.

This Sonuus thing seems really interesting - too bad it won't track chords.. but for melody lines, hell, what a useful tool.
