| yes, actually both C6 and C7 are changed in the mod. one remains the same and the other he bumps up to .1uF. I guess I'll be swapping them out and seeing how it sounds. |

I would leave C006 and C007 as the original value of 47nF (0.047). Changing the value or type of these caps has no effect on tone, it is almost certain that this is what is causing the silence problem.

Chris.
What Scarymonsta said.
Why on earth would the mod call for a change to those caps? |

Is anyone familiar with Griffin Effects? I received their modded MT-2 called the double distortion today, won an auction on ebay.
It's loaded with a 2-way switch, one position gives it a tube like tone and the other position gives it a louder, more aggressive distortion.

yes, i watched a youtube video of a griffin effects metal zone mod called the death metal mod. it sounds really good. in the two way switch for your mod, the louder of the two positions likely involves an LED or two. |

| Sounds good, that's what I speculated. I'm going to dissect it pretty soon, just to see what components they used. |

so I put C7 back to .047uf and the silence during switching problem is gone... I also swapped C20 and C8 to .22uf, C39 to 1uf and C36 to .01uf. not sure if I like this whole combo of mods or not. makes the pedal way more "average." and I think I liked the EQ better with the stock capacitor at C36. does C36 have any effect on tone or just on the EQ range?
edit: just wanted to state that the above mods are all from the keeley mod, not from the allums.
one thing is for sure though, I'm staying away from allums mods. he changes the value of C25 after removing C24, which I read on here does absolutely nothing, and he changes values in the switching circuit, which causes nothing but problems... absolutely pointless! i can't imagine he has any technical knowledge at all and still includes these mods in his kit. |

Thanks for the heads up on the M.A mod. I was actually looking into that one next... I think griffins mod is it's own beast with a 2-way switch. Can't wait until my new soldering iron gets here along with my sockets so I could find out, old one died out after I finished the diezner mod.
EDIT: Oh you were talking about the k**l*y mod, oh ok! |

I almost forgot, did anyone notice some crackling/popping when having the EQ set a certain way with the diezner modded MT-2? I'm having that problem now, but everything was soldered pretty solid |

I am not familiar with the diezner mod, but a careful visual inspection of all PCB and connecting wires should be the first thing to try - check for good/bad solder joints, solder whiskers (fine strands of solder joining tracks that shouldn't be joined), cable fraying or breakages / damage. Good lighting and some magnification is really useful too.
Double check the correct components were put in the correct place listed in the mod - it's really easy to make a mistake even with years of experience.
Also ensure a good power supply or new battery.
Carefully check all these things first.

Gotcha, thanks for your input! Much appreciated good sir! I'll scope that out when I get home from work later.
I might just redo everything and use sockets just in case something did go/goes wrong, so I could switch out components quicker (should've done that first, but I was eager to try this mod before the sockets shipped)
Have a good one!
Joe.
EDIT: Fixed It was a over-soldered 1uf in c42.

The "killer" tone is achieved by changing C16. It makes the switch happy.
What a rip off ! |
