I have Schaller Straplocks on 2 of my guitars, and I have DiMarzio Cliplock straps on 4 of them.
I like the Schallers because they have a pull-release on the locking mechanism, as opposed to Dunlops push-button release, which I feel is more secure than Dunlops. I also prefer Schallers because the locks have a lip which adds to extra stability to me, as opposed to the ball and groove locks of Dunlop. The only con with the Schallers is that the nut for the straplocks on your strap can sometimes come loose.
The DiMarzio Cliplock strap is my favorite because it comes with extra-long mounting screws in both the Fender and Gibson sizes, so most likely no re-drilling is needed, which you may have to do (and I have done) with Dunlops. Pretty much the most stable and secure strap that I have used. The only con though is that if you lose the strap portion, there are no strap buttons on the guitar to use in an emergency, unlike Schallers or Dunlops, which can oftent times feature a strap button so regular, non-locking straps can be used as well.
As a footnote, I just want to say I was not Dunlop bashing, I just have some experience with those locks as well, but after using those, and seeing the other alternatives, I prefer the other choices. I was just making comparisons to Dunlops as they seem to be a popular strap lock choice. |

To me, Dunlop makes the best. They have a simple, positive locking design that even looks as if they belong on my guitar (most guitars) as direct stock replacement. Their oversized washer actually sandwiches your strap & the straight-forward push-button release.. there is no substitute. I stood at GC for 20 minutes tearing into packaging while comparing the 4 different brands. They do seem a bit bulky & stick out a bit further than I'd like but for simplistic quality & ease of use for that peace of mind I need to protect my cherished axe, Dunlop is the bomb.
Here's the page: http://www.jimdunlop.com/index.php?page=products/pip&id=139&pmh=products/accessories
Here's a closeup:
I didn't care for that brand that used a clip that snapped into a C-slot or whatever. The others were just kinda cheesy if not unique. |

| I've been using Schallers for the past 3 or 4 years and I haven't had a problem so far. |

Rubber rings from Grosh beer bottles because you can still use any strap you would like, and they work very well.

| I have had no probs with schaller straplocks but they should sell the pieces separately so you could have 2 straps for 1 guitar or 1 strap for 2 guitars without having to buy and store the unused parts until they are lost. |
