Hey everyone, I'm a long time lurker first time poster here on the forum. You guys seem to be very knowledgeable and I'm sure you can help me out. I just recently got into boss compact pedals and I'm really a fan. My setup is as follows:

Fender 72 Tele Thinline Reissue >
Boss NS-2 >
Boss TU-2 >
Boss OC-3 >
Boss SD-1 >
Boss PS-5 >
Boss PH-3 >
Boss DD-3 >
Marshall JVM205H

I run the TU-2, OC-3, and SD-1 all in the NS-2's built in loop and then have all the rest plugged into the front of the amp. As you might expect I am having some serious signal loss. I know alot of you will say, "Well then get rid of all your unnecessary pedals." I use them all and want to have them in my board. Should I get a GE-7 for the end of my chain to boost my signal or hook some pedals up into the effects loop of my amp. If so, which ones should go thru the effects loop? Thanks for your help guys I appreciate it!

- Steve

what kind of cables are you using. and how long are they. buy looking at the set up that you have. it might be the cables that you are using. Myself i am using Mogami 2524 cable. to my board and to my amp. But i was still getting tone loss. so i hade custom cable built for my borad using the same cable. Now i have virutaly no tone loss at all.take a pic of the board and let me know how its cabled

I would check if the TU-2 is the "culprit" for the signal loss by removing it from the loop. If that's the case you can try a dedicated looper for the TU-2. They are quite easy to build or you could buy one already made, Keeley sells those

As zerksies mentioned low quality cables might have the same effect. Nice set of Keeley pedals by the way, is the DD-3 also Keeley ?

Why not?

I think it does affect the sound. If you look at the schematic once you plug in something on the return socket there is only one signal path and that is through the loop.

If you look at the return socket, the direct path is disabled if the return socket is used.

Hey everyone, thanks for all of your answers. And Zerksises, I am just using the BOSS BCB-60 stock cables. They seem pretty cheap, maybe that is the problem. What kind of cables do you recommend?

And would using the amps effects loop remedy any of this tonal loss?

Also, cctsim, I used to just run the tuner alone and it didn't kill much of my signal. I wish I didn't need the NS-1 because that definately cuts alot of volume but the only other scenario would be having a ridiculous amount of feedback.

How do you guys feel about the GE-7? Harmony Central reviews seem to be pretty mixed.

I was using the stock cables for about a year.It seemed great when i plugged direct into the amp. I loved the tone. but when i ran my boss bcb60 loaded with cables i would get tone loss. i would try the indivual pedals and get nothing. i figured it was my cables. For my guitar i am using mogomi cables. so i went to WWW.lavacable.com and had then make me a custom set for my bcb-60 using the same mogami cables and selecting the sizes it was about 100 dollars and got no tone loss and less noise and shipped to me in less then 5 days. but if you are gassing i would get the ge-7 it seems like a noisy pedal to me. but i would start with the cables first
