Hi fellow Boss addicts!
Finally I managed to get hold of most versions of the Chorus Ensembles out there (CE-1, CE-2 Japan & Taiwan, CE-3, CE-5, CE-5A and CE-20) and made a short comparison (with images & sound samples & some technical information) for my website. If you are interrested, please have a look:

All feedback, comments & suggestions are highly appreciated!
Thanks!!
Jake

| Great site and I love the sound samples. Just one question though, what about the Boss Ch-1? |

Yes very nice indeed. How about the CE-2b? That one definetely deserved it's spot in there, and sounds great with guitar too. |

I did own one of these some time ago, and in my opinion the sound of the CH-1 is nice, but not quite as deep and fullbodied as the Chorus Ensemble. The CH-1 is really good for a soft, hardly noticeable shimmering chorus, though, especially with the dry/wet balance low. I didn't include it in the article since I tried to focus it on the stompbox sized CE:s only.

This is true, I actually though about this but I didn't have one at hand... if I happen to walk across one I'll include it in the article.

Very interesting! Welcome to the forum, we are a handful of Scandinavians here, but some are not really active. I also wants to point out that CE-2B sounds very good with guitar, and itīs often much cheaper than CE-2.

Hi guys,
What's the different between CE2 and CE2B? Is there any huge differences? I thought CE-2B is cater for fella bassist. Correct me if im wrong.

| Really cool site. You must have your CE-1 vibrato depth set at 9 o'clock - I could barely hear that warble I love in your clip. Nonetheless, a great comparison, and I agree with your ultimate conclusion (having gone from a CH-1 to CE-2 to CE-1 myself). A CE-1 with the chorus at 9 and vibrato at noon/2 is all the chorus I'll ever need. |

Cool site indeed! I am probably one of the very rare people that really like the CE-3. Back then it was the first chorus I bought. A few months ago I was in the market again for a chorus pedal after years of absense. I got myself a CE-5 for its versatility, but wasn't happy with it. Sold it and went for a CE-3 again. To this day, it's my "Archetype" of the chorus sound. I love the somewhat clinical sound everybody seems to dislike, I found the others too lushy/wobbly, even on lower settings. For that kind of sound I use my BF-2 set like this: 9-12-12-9. Perhaps a bit too "flangy", but it's fine by me. |

| I'm also a big fan of the CE-3! I find it can be very lush sounding on certain settings and I it's fantastic in stereo. I also have an analog CH-1 on my live board, which is more subtle, but I like the fact that it has level and eq controls which gives me more control over the sound in a live setting. I think the CE-3 is an overlooked classic... |

Hi!
first of, i have a ce-3 comming my way, maybe i'll join the ce-3-lovers-club
and second, i don't really belive that the ce-3 is the weak link in the ensamble chain, i would think it is more like the quality of the pedals are uneven, some are amazing and someones have a lot of noise and a metallic sound...but, that's just a thought... |

I have heard that theory of CE-2 too, thatīs why some of the later MIJ and MIT not sound as good as the earlier ones. It makes sense I think. And this can make confusion when two persons discuss the same model, one has a good MIT and one has a bad MIT for example. |

yeah, that seems more logical to me, you usually cant say this pedal sucks and that pedal sucks, cause each pedal is individual, it's just like marshallamps, sure, you can generalize it and say in most cases... but saying they are all bad is wrong...
oh, and taste of course, that god damned thing..
and i'm very happy too say this: my ce-3 arrived today, and it absolutely smokes! i love this thing. since i play mostly 80's metal this is the thing, all those 80's pornomovie sounds are in this beautiful little baby, and it's STEREO... |
