Hey Forum, I'm currently looking for a different overdrive sound to try out. I'm using a Keeley modified SD-1 and a stock SD-1 for lead boost and would like to hear some opinions on whether the OD-2 & OD-2R in Turbo mode sounds better than the SD-1. Thanks Neaves
i think the OD-2 in regular mode set with everything around noon is perfect for cranking it up with the Strats single coils..(although it comes in a close 2nd to the OD-1 heh heh) with turbo on its more distortion-like for rock sounds such as EVH etc.
if you want a very versatile OD, you cant get more versatile than the SD-2. it is extremely useful playing live or recording since its really like 2 different OD's in 1 compact pedal.
Very Cool suggestions guys! Now i probably should have mentioned this earlier but i play metal and my amp is a marshall jcm2000 50 watt and all my guitars have humbuckers no single coils at all. So which one would be better for this music type the OD-3 or the SD-2 ? Neaves
metal? id say go straight for a distortion pedal. although if you want to combine the OD pedal with your amps distortion for a metal tone, i recommed a light OD that has good highs and isnt too muddy. i reccomend the OD-1 since it has nice highs and is light. it acts as a great driver.
Yeah i'm just driving my amp with the super overdrive and don't want to use a distortion pedal but i would like something that maybe sounds different from the sd-1 type of sound not because i don't like it but just because i'm just looking for something that sounds different and that will work with what kind of music i play. I would love to have a parametric equalizer to put in and take out what i like and don't like (That would Rule)!!!!!! I have a GE-7 that i'm not having any success with so i need to find some alternatives.
try to get your hands on a GE-6. i bought one for the exact same reason. i find that no matter what i do with the GE-7, it adds mud to distortion. the GE-6 seems to keep everything tighter. i dont really know why but thats why i own 2 of them
