Hi Guys
I was wondering? Do any of the Boss pedals do Dynamic Delay? Maybe the DD-20
I only have the Boss DD-2 and a few other, NON-Boss delays. I know, that the DL4 from Line 6 does dynamic delay.
YES! There is reason in my question-madness. But I'll wait till I see some responses.

Hi Guys
Taken shamelessly from the Line 6 DL4 user manual. (copyright Line 6) ===================== Dynamic Delay.
This effect was made popular by the TC Electronic 2290 Dynamic Digital Delay. This is a sort of "smart" volume control for your delay effect's echoes, and sets the loudness of the delay echoes based on how hard you play.
While you play, the Dynamic Delay keeps the volume of the echoes turned down, so that the echoes don't overwhelm what you're doing. Then, when you stop playing for a moment, the volume level of the repeats turns up to allow the echoes to be heard.
The TWEAK knob sets the threshold - the breakpoint where this automatic volume control stops working and lets the echoes through at full volume. The TWEEZ knob adjusts the level of the "ducked" repeats - higher settings will duck the delay level down more.
Try setting TWEAK and TWEEZ to reasonably high values, and hear how the delay effect gets partially muted while you play, helping to avoid that unwanted "muddy" sound.
Tweek & Tweez are 2 program/effect defined knobs on the DL4. These knobs do different things depending on what Delay mode it's in. =====================
Hope this explains what dynamic delay is.
Does anyone know if the Boss DD-20 Dual Pedal has this delay function?
As you might imagine, this is a powerful & useful delay effect.

I thought boss/roland developed something similar with the dyna touch on some of their cube series amps and some of the new boss pedals...i.e the harder you play the dirter the sound.... this dynamic delay seems like the same principal..... the samples sound very good esprcially the analog delays..the only reason i would stay away from a line 6 pedal is they seem to have some reliability issues but i'm sure thats no problemo for the doc.... i have a pod pro xt and the effects especially the delays are very good but when i used to use it live sometimes the floorboard wah/volume pedal would switch from volume to wah for no reason in the middle of a song........ it didn't really work out as i had planned to use it to replace the amps via the P.A. but for recording and home pratice it's great...i also used it as a effects processor(just for modulation and delay/reverb) through the effects loop of the drummers marshall mg series amp...i just set the amp sims to bypass mode and was very happy with the delay effects.like i said before thr only hassle was the stupid wah/volume pedal on the floorboard and to be honest that was the weakest effect the wah...i used to bring the dunlop and just plug it into the front of the pod...... |

It doesn't. It does do just about everything else, though... |

| What I would like to see on a delay pedal is that only when you press it, that part is delayed, like on and off on a dd-6, but when you press the pedal it's on and when you release it it's off. |

You might be able to do it if you ran it through a LS-2 you could turn it off/on, direct sound and or delay sound
A Dynamic Delay, what a cool concept. I've read you can get a digerido type sound with a auto wah after a delay pedal. Wonder if you play with it enough you could get some interesting sounds. No auto-wah, but I got a Dynamic Filter |

The DD-20 will do this in warp mode, just set the effect level and repeats to zero, adjust delay time to taste: When you hold down the left footswitch, it ramps up both the effect level and number of repeats (quasi self-oscillation style), when released the repeats fade away... very nice |
