first off, i love the EH-2. its one of two pedals that NEVER leave my chain.. but what EXACTLY it does has always been a mystery to me.. the way some people talk about it, it seems to be this magical pedal that personally knows YOUR rig and just makes everything sound perfect..
ive never actually opened one up but to me it almost seems like a one band parametric EQ. to my ears it seems that it only adds to the mid-high range.. i remember reading somewhere that the EH-2 adds treble back to your signal since the highs are the first thing that you lose with long cables or using multiple effects.. i guess what im saying is that i have a good understanding of how all other effects work but is it possible that its nothing more than a parametric mid/high boost?
discuss.. |

| Yeah, it definitely does some restoration of the high frequencies. There is probably some more subtle stuff going on in the low/mid range too. I always thought it was the pedal version of the BBE Sonic Maximizer. |

| That's all it really does it add back in some higher frequencies to offset some of the muddiness. I'd sure like to see some waveforms on a scope though to see if it cuts or filters any adjacent frequencies to the RMS fundamental & tracked harmonics to help clean up the signal. |

Another question about this box I'd like to know is where in the chain?
Most of us use it at the end to restore, but in a couple of the pocket guides/guidebooks places the EH-2 after compression and before distortion. Of course it's all up the the ears, but would the advantages to this pre-distortion placement be? |

| Are the service notes available for Boss pedals somewhere? |

| I did put this pedal back in the chain last week, it's amazing how much it brings back to your sound, especially as in my mind the EH-2 was the pedal that didn't do anything.. |

Thanks D-cell...Just kidding quote: I had one in my board for about 6 months could never figure what it did but thought the idea was cool but i got rid of it
I used one for quite a spell, replaced it with a BBE Sonic. Guess what little girls. I love Boss, but, NO Comparison. BBE, hands down. If I could describe it, it would be what was classically known as "presence". EH-2 has it's place, but Sonic Stomp is the machine I wanna ride.
