| Has anyone tried a tele with a B Bender? If so, is it hard to get the hang of? Also, are these only for telecasters? Can other guitars be modified to use it? I think it only works with the telecaster style bridge, but I can't seem to find much info. |

Are you sure you want to do this to your guitar? This looks like something you'd only want to do to a "spare" Tele...
http://www.stringbender.com/bender/classic.htm
Looks as if it has to be a fixed bridge guitar to be installed, only Tele and Les Pauls listed. |

I am damn sure that I don't want to do this to my guitar, especially if it's 1500 bucks! It's just that I have heard of these and wondered if anyone had tried one. Fender made a factory equipped B Bender Telecaster for a while, maybe they still do. I'd like to try one. |

Every now and then I'll see a Squier Tele on eBay with this done to it, and those are more affordable than the $1500... |

Can anybody easily explain what it does or how it works.
If you push down on the neck, to put pressure on the strap, the mechanism in the bridge bends the B string up to C#. The strap button is attached to the mechanism, and moves as you put the pressure on the strap. You can play a chord or whatever at the same time. |

No, but thanks a damn lot.. now I want one! I always wondered about that sound & how to get it. I always wanted a Strat thinking Teles were too simple looking & twangy but I'm thinking otherwise now.
I'd be afraid to mod any guitar. Hmm.. can't we order a Tele with one factory installed? I love this Tele here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGlbmEIoGhg. It doesn't have a blender but its sparkly colors change with the light. Johnny Hiland is awesome btw. |

Yeah now I want one too. These Tele's don't look simple at all. |

Metallica's James Hetfield also used a B-bender equipped tele on "the unforgiven 2" from Reload. He plays the clean parts during the verses with it, those bends in the riff sound really cool. |

G.A.S.ing..... pity it's been discontinued..the sunburst with the maple neck and the strat pickup are not doing it any harm either..... you can get a similar effect with your fretting hand, try playing a 7th like a barred A 7th at the fifth fret, play the chord with the volume on the guitar at zero, swell the volume with your right hand(i normally use my little finger) and bend the note your fingering in the chord on the G string down a half tone,i normally pull it down towards the B string...it all has to happen a bit quick so it might take a little practice, with a bit of reverb it can sound great and a little spooky and different...check out jerry donohue for a real expert in string bending..... |

| Squier Teles are priced decently enough that you could probably try it for less than what the Fender would have cost you had they not been discontinued. Then if you don't like it, you could probably flip it and make a profit off it on eBay... |

Thank you P4P for explaining it. I would have never have figured it out.
It seems interesting to use, but would sound bad for people who jump around while playing. I already have a bad habit of pulling on the neck or pushing down hard to get better leverage while shredding. |
