I recently got a Boss eh-2 I was not sure how to use it the one of you guys helped me out..I was wondering what is the difference with the two pedals ge-7 and eh-2 one takes away and one adds? I like the eh-2 alot ..there are 5 on ebay right now. I was looking into the ge-7 or forget it? my chain is Mutron MicroV > MXR phase 100 > Boss od-2r > Boss eh-2 into my Gibson Goldtone Ga15rv class A tube amp. Would the Ge-7 help? I dont like the Od-2r so much but more then the od-3. I do have Digitech Bad Monkey which sounds good. I never use my Boss fz-3 really harsh for my taste. which OD would you guys use? od-3 or od-2r or Bad Monkey? The od-3 is very loud..Thanks Jay

Jay,

I haven't tried the OD-3 or Monkey pedal but I have found that the GE-7 and the OD-2 work well together. It is sort of a known combination.

As for the EH-2, click on Compact pedals on this homepage. Try the suggested settings for each pedal as a way to start. This will introduce you to what some people have achieved with the pedals.

I havent really gotten around to playing with it, so I just left everything at 2oclock. It sounds great, but ill try some other settings eventually.

About the GE-7, i think you should pick one up. I remember when i got mine, i put it before my distortion chain, and i was happy with it. Then i put it after and i was amazed at what sounds i was getting. It made a huge difference, and i dont see how I could ever get rid of it. I might pick up a GE-6/7 and put it before my distortion to get it more consentrated where i need it.

As for the OD, have you tried out an SD-1?

Although it's called an enhancer, I've read on a number of occasions that really the pedal should've been called the CO-2 Compensator - compensating for the damage a long chain of Boss pedals does to the tone of your instrument.

FYI I've never heard of anyone running a guitar > EH-2 > amp setup.

I run guitar EH-2 amp (no other pedals) quite often, I use it when I have a clean to mildly crunchy sound. I sounds much better than without EH-2. Brings a clarity and a bell-like sound to singel coil guitars that I like a lot. As a matter of fact I think EH-2 shines when used with clean sounds, of course its good with distorted sounds too.
EH-2 is a BIG favourite for me, hardly plays without it.

Try to get a mit ge-7. I found the mijs were too noisy, and didn't want to bother 'fixing' it, plenty of good mods out there to

I refer to my eh-2 as like angel-hair, shimmering-almost not there until you turn it off...
permanent fixture on my board
have yet to get my bass friend to try the 'slap-pop'setting

Count Bassi said its the notes you don't hear that counts

I woudl suggest checking out the manual as I found it really helpful to get the sounds out of it. I really like the EH-2 for bringing out the middle and upper range sounds but I don't think it works like an equaliser in that you don't have really detailed frequency control. Hope that helps!
