I have been thinking a lot lately (no smart comments T-D); About an almost throw-away line that Zentropa recently wrote. It was along the lines, "that things get buried very quickly" here, on the forum.
As well as, when I search for things, I always come across a real wealth of information & other goodies.
So I thought I would start a new thread, listing some of those Golden Oldies, that I come across.
It will probably be useful, to the many newer members. As of this moment in time: There are 46645 posts in 11 forum, across 4947 topics Quite an impressive achievement for a 3+ year old.
If it's popular enough, we should take a vote, on possibly making it Sticky.
Anyone & everyone, is welcome to contribute here & make suggestions. The most difficult part for me today, was figuring out which topic heading to put it into.
And please let me know what you think of the idea? Regards Dr. Bob If you post a link top an old thread, please cheack any other links are still valid. .....................................

There is a TON of info & discussion, on the DS-1 alone.

Great idea! I wonder if it's worth having a section for individual pedal discussions? Something under Boss Products and then you click into 'Individual Pedals' and all the topics are the pedal names or numbers.
Just a thought! |

| Rather than making popular stuff sticky, maybe a moderator only forum where topics with 50+ posts are sent in retirement? |

I like those ideas too, especially with much used/talked about pedals, like the aforementioned DS-1, the SD-1, CS-3, you name 'em.
Or make stickys per effects group, one for dist/od, one for comp/limit, one for modulation/pitch, one for reverb/delay and one for miscellaneous Boss products. Just to keep things a little bit overviewable. |

This is a great idea. That should be used inside each individual pedal page of the Bossarea home page.

Possibly under the 'links' or 'presence' icons. With direct links to forum topics/threads discussing the appropriate pedal. It would be a great way to keep long buried topics full of useful knowledge at a convenient reference point for both members and non-members alike. Not to mention it would keep the forum a little less sticky. |

I would find it very helpful if the forums were somehow indexed by pedal type. Not necessarily by model, but at least by compression, distortion, etc. I know it gets murky, but what doesn't?
One of the primary reasons I read this site is to find info about how to get the most from my pedal pile. I know there is a search function, but sometimes you have to wade through a lot to find what you are looking for.
Perhaps as an alternative to "sticky" (though I'm not sure what all that means), if a thread is seen by the moderator as having "lasting value", why not tag it such (e.g., attach a rating) to make it easier to locate the more useful/interesting stuff. Users at large surely would take no issue with defering the assignment of ratings to a seasoned user, because a rating would not be more than a point or two off. All I am seeking is some kind of sorting key to shorten my research time and efforts.
