Is there any difference between the green and black MIJ CE-2 pedals? Or between them and the Made in Taiwan version? I understand there is very little difference among them all, but what is it? |

Hi stoty50134
Welcome to the Forum...
I hope I don't sound rude, but. This topic has been covered a number of different times. I might have to let one of the other guys see if they can remember the thread.
Basically you are correct, except for, component tolerances, electrolytic caps drying out, or a wrong value component in the wrong place, or someone's botched-up mod; Most CE-2's sound alike/similar.
If you can get one at a reasonable price, just get it, you won't be disappointed. Good Luck
Regards Dr. Bob |

It really hurts to have the Search function down. Personally, I can live with the intermittent problems.

FWIW, I have owned a silver-screw MIJ black label CE-2, and a green label MIJ CE-2. the green label CE-2 was the best sounding of any chorus pedal I've ever owned, but I sold it when I acquired the SS CE-2, which sounded marginally (but noticeably) better.
that said, I would have kept the green-label CE-2 if I was in any danger of playing out (guitar) anytime soon. I know someone who has a SS CE-2 on his live pedal board, but I wouldn't bring a $100-$150 vintage pedal to a bar gig.
whatever you do, try to make sure you buy one that hasn't had its internal trim pots "adjusted" by some inept would-be pedal mod guru. |

Hi stoty50134 and welcome to the forum.
The green label only replaced the black one to easier identify the BBD based pedals. These pedals contained circuitry that fell in under the FCC rules. There wasn't any changes made to the CE-2 at the same time as the label was changed but minor changes (like different brands and types of capacitors) have happened from time to time. |

Soon it will work much better Found out that the search engines were unable to properly index the forum because no permanent link existed to all threads. I created a new page with a link to every thread. Google has just picked it up while live.com (that the forum search is using) should pick it up very soon. |

never bring nice stuff like that to a bar gig, unless you cable lock everything to the floor. Just use doubles. Unbelievably true, we had a work function and there was a band in the hall, country pickers and this guy left his 50's Tele he got from his dad when they went for coffee ... it grew legs. It was sick to be so close to hearing of that story, the legion wasn't even in a shady part of town but to leave it unattended was just a sad moment of carlessness. I was reading a bit analogman's website and all the gear that get's stolen and the desperate pleas for help. darned theives!!!! |
