The Boss HM-2 was my first stompbox pedal from Boss. My first opinion: sounds terrible! Not very usefull etc... Sale them and for a couple of days back, i owned one again. And it sounds great! Great in combination with a OD-3 or anything like that. Its sounds also great on bassguitar |

I can only imagine the ragin' bass sounds.
For the past couple of days i've been running the HM-2 w/ an SD-1 right before it in the chain, using the SD-1 for a boost w/ a little extra grit.
I was gonna mess around today by replacing the SD-1 w/ a BD-2 or maybe my MXR Distortion III, which sounds more like an overdrive pedal to me anyway, just to hear the differences & figure out which combo i like the most. IF i can stop stalking stuff on ebay for long enough... |

Congrats !! I too, once scored a happening HM-2 MIJ at a good price, so I know the swell feeling that we Boss pedal fiends experience ,,, it's like Christmas and Mardi Gras meet Halloween.
The Japan sounds very nice to me, and there are lengthy threads in the archive about the sweet spot.
I had a great Boss pedal moment a few times, but the 'Dead One' for a good price took the cake. It functioned perfectly, but the dude's 'One-Spot' wouldn't power it.

| I have a chance to by an MIJ HM-2 for $30, but I am a little confused because they seem to go for around that amount on ebay all day? |
