Hi Guys I thought you might like to see the new miniature POD from line 6 called the Pocket POD. http://line6.com/pocketpod/movies.html
It packs a lot of bang for your buck. 300+ programs, with USB up & down load ability. The sound sample are on a menu button link on the same page.
It seems, that lots of companies are releasing new technology. An coming up with great new innovations.
I think all this new equipment & innovation is great, what do you guys think?
Regards Dr. Bob

Bought the pocket POD yesterday and had an evening with lots of fun. Even if I usually hate playing with headphones the fun made me forget that. Very good sounds, and lots of them. And battery power (and the size) makes it good to have around anywhere. Putting an amp (Ibanez Valbee) after the POD didnt sound as good to me, maybee I should have used two amps for stereo. Together with the editor (not tried it yet) this makes a remakable toy for boys and girls of all age. As long as good tube amps are made I like innovations in the digital field, but as you know a 10 year old digital "thing" will sound like crap (exception Boss DD-2) but the ten year old tube amp will sound great. Im interested in the digital innovations for sure, I dont have to buy it. |

Hi Goran Did you get it locally,or did you import it from the US? A guy out here on Oz Evilbay has a few of them, but he is asking a lot for them.
Can I ask what you paid for your one?
Tell us what the editor is like, I read on the line 6 support forum, that some people are having some problems with the editor.
You said it didn't sound so good into the (Ibanez Valbee) Did you set the tone controls to Flat? Best you run it into the main amp in, in the effects loop, bypassing all your amps pre-amp & tone controls.
I run all my multi-effects this way, else you get too much coloration off the pre-amp.
Last year I bought a Korg Pandora PX4D, & I have been using that, as my after the family is in bed, practice amp. But unless I set my Vintage Fender valve amp tone controls for flat, it sounds pretty ordinary.
NOTE: when running into any amp or combo TURN OFF THE SPEAKER EMULATION... as you already have a speaker, and it only muffles the tone if you leave speaker cab. emulation on.
Keep us informed with the progress of your Pocket POD, I have been pretty keen to get one as well. I am especially interested in the sound quality & the Editor. I heard that the patches were from the newer XT POD & Vetta amps - amp sims.

Dr Bob: I have not tried the editor, I busy enough with the pre-programmed sounds.... What I like most is to build a sound from scratch, the pre-programmed ones are, as usual for this type of effect, of mixed quality. But it is quite easy to get a sound (or many) that I like a lot. Summary: the sounds are mostly very good.
I bought it in Sweden for about 120 US$.
I of course tried it in the power-amp in and disengaged the speaker sim. Going into the pre-amp section always makes a lot of noice with this type of effects/things.
Mainly this is a toy, nothing you use in a band situation, just playing around for the fun of it. And nothing wrong with that, you can get fine ideas for songs just playing around. What I mean with toy is not that its of bad quality, but to navigate the POD in a live situation would be terrifying... Nothing can replace a couple of Boss pedals and a good tube amp What you get for the price is amazing, I have a Yamaha DG-Stomp too that Ive liked a lot, but the POD sounds much better in every way. I had a Behringer V-amp for a short while, not very good, so I traded it away fast. |
