Hi Laurie,
I have only CE-2, CE-2B, CE-3 and CH-1 schem. I can help you with them, partly CE-5 is similar as CH-1...
What is wrong with your CE-5? Hope we can help as usual !
cheers |

Was that the one with the busted tone knobs? I was tempted, but I already have a few chorus pedals, CE2,DC3, Tokai TCH1 a CE3 clone, Detune from a PS5 |

Yeah... that was the one. Hopefully just need a new pot and knobs, but I always like to have the schematic anyway.
I only have a CH-1 and it's too "sparkly" for me (I also have a cheap Behringer copy of a CH-1, same complaint) - I'd much rather have some darkness and depth in a chorus.
This CE-5 should have the older analogue circuitry - the serial is from 2000 and the change to digital happened in 2001. here's hoping...

Yeeeeessssss.... $25 including shipping. BUT. It is broken - and the dual pots are impossible to get. Not sure how I'm going to fix it yet. It might end up with resistors hard-wired for those controls

Hi lauries2
What about re-housing it in one of the wider style, Hammond die-cast boxes, with separate pots for the dual controls?
At least you would have people trying to guess what it might be.
I have an MZ-2 that I scored as part of a swap for repairing a vintage CE-2. I was fortunate, I didn't have to re-house it. The shaft & knob on the 100K Log, level pot, was missing, I was only able to source a 100k Lin pot, to replace it. still it's better than no pot at all. I posted pics of that one on the pedal internals thread, but you can't see, that I had removed the pot before taking the pics.
On a separate issue, I just had a Bitchin' offer on one of my OD-1's, but I going to stand my ground, & hang on to them.
Embarrassing situation though, I have to keep saying no all evening, as we have invited them out to dinner with us, just before he found out about my OD-1's

I'll try to get a pot from Roland in the US. I also noticed that Jaycar have some dual pots (RP8712 for example). Hopefully I can make something work!
Last resort is rehousing, but if it comes to that I'll still have a real Boss pedal I guess
Just watching an OD-2r on ebay... you don't wanna sell me one of your OD-1 pedals eh Dr. Bob?? |

Are you lucky enough that the busted pot has the values printed on the side? Guessing since Roland would only keep stock on hand for current production items, you could get a replacement from a MT-2. The High/Low is a 100k stacked, and the Mids is a 100k with a 50kCx2 (concentric). Or any other pot from a pedal thats in production, FDR1 had dual pots,
good luck |

Thanks Christo! I don't have the pedal yet, so I don't know how much trouble I'm in But for the price if I have to rehouse it and put in two normal pots so-be-it.
Yeah... I'm hoping something like an MT-2 pot will fit. Does anyone know a source for the pots? I come across a few pedals with bent/broken pots that are cheap because the parts "arent available". There has to be somewhere on the face of the planet where we can get them? Hmmm... I'll start a new thread to ask this question. Maybe some of our members located in Asia know of a supplier over there...?
