| do components in one pedal affect another pedal even if the first pedal is off? is this what is called as signal bleed (or something) and is a result of a pedal which is not true bypass? what i mean is that if i change some capacitors or diodes in a od-1, will these affect another pedal like a ds-1, even if the the od-1 is off while i am using the ds-1? my ears may have been playing tricks on me but i noticed this one when i changed the diodes in the od-1 to LEDs to make it into more of a boost. i "noticed" that when i turned on the ds1 only, the distortion characteristics also changed even if this pedal was still stock and the change was more pronounced when i turned on the od. i removed the od1 from the chain and the ds-1 returned to its original sound.this happened early in my modding weeks which prompted me to return the od to stock and mod the ds-1. |

LDR:
the OD-1 has a bleed problem. it does color the clean tone and subsequently any pedal after it in the chain will sound different (was like turning up the input gain on my "clean" channel marshall by about 4 but without the volume boost).
i performed the SD-1 bleed fix mod on my OD-1 w/ the help of people here to find the right spots to tack down the jumpers.
the mod works great. clean tone is back to normal and i'm not getting any funky tones when i run my OD-1 before my DS-1.
the hardest component to track down was the J201 n-channel jfet transistor as i had to order that online. i had originally set it up w/ an n-channel jfet that i got at radio shack, but that skewed the pedal tone a lot and gave a lil volume loss.

I can't find the old thread on this... does this mod work for the SD-1 too? I have too much info laying around without proper indexing |

Thank you!!
Soooo... here's a question. The bleed mod I found calls for a 2SJ201 and the data shows a 2SJ201 is a 150W (12 amp) power MOSFET. Ummmm... have I got the right mod, cause that looks like an awfully big transistor for this job! |

Hi lauries2
The part number is JUST J201 it's a TO-92 size case JFET. Unlike all the other Jap transistor numbers, you don't add the 2Sx prefix.
Don't feel bad, I fell for the same misinformation & assumption.
I have the real data-sheet if you are looking for it. PM me if you need it & will do a search of my data drive.

thankyou my friends. i 'll try to do the mod. i forgot to write down that it was only the od-1 into the ds-1 that the bleed was apparent. the ds-1 didn't bleed into the hm-2, which is next in the chain, even if i modded it. regards, ldr |
