Roger your MIT SD-1, what is the serial number? Are there any holes in the batt. compartment? What kind of screw is there: Black or Silver? What is the colour of the switch: Black or Transparent?
Mine has serial number: 066400, it is on a stickered paperlabel inside the batt. compartment.
Inside the batt. compartment, there are two holes: One near the switch, and one near the screw of the batt. compartment.
The screw is black, same colour as the switch.
The two holes in the batt. compartment are similar to the older, silverscrew pedals, or the first version pedals.

Roger your MIT SD-1,
Visserman...you were asking about my MIT SD-1, not my MIJ right?
Q: what is the serial number?
A: S/N 138260 on Stickered white paper label inside Batt. Compartment
Q: Are there any holes in the batt. compartment?
A: No holes, but I know what you're talking about. My CS-1 has the holes you mentioned.
Q: What kind of screw is there: Black or Silver? What is the colour of the switch: Black or Transparent?
A: Black screw and switch.
Visserman, your MIT sounds like a MIJ...could it be?
Regards, Roger

Roger,
I mend your Japanese SD-1.
My Jap sounds EXATELY the same as my Taiwan version!!
Done tests with testtones and with guitars, and whatever testmethod I used, there are NO differences at all, and if any, the Taiwanese one sounds darker!!!!
Think I start to unravel the hype
There are differences and the are in the cosmetic department:
The Jap. has a smaller metal case, has rounder edges and weights a lot more.
Genereally speaking most people would not notice these differences, but one would if you had both of these pedals sitting on your table while having breakfast |

You've got me thinking visserman. I'm going to have to do another A/B of my MIT and MIJ SD-1's and see if there is a noticeable difference. It's been a few years since I've compared them. Hype is a powerful thing BTW the S/N of my MIJ SD-1 is 284100 (White Sticker). Black switch and screw. No holes in the Batt. Compartment.

Hi Roger,
serial number of my Jap. SD-1 is: 066400 and it is on a stickered paerlabel inside batt. compartment.
Do your A/B tests and see how you feel about their sound. Goran, just as bossarea did, has mentioned before that there is not a huge difference between the Jap. and Taiwan one.
A great application is to get both SD-1's hooked up and set them up for different sounds, in this way you still have a useful, practical application. Cheers |
