I traded my old Line 6 AM4 (good amp modeler) to get a Blackstar HT Dual. It really has THE tone. And lots of it. It also has a line/speaker sim output that should resemble a 4*12 I beleive. It sounds transparent and better than a Line 6 X3 Live speaker sim (not truer I guess). The overall crunch sound is almost equal to a VOX Big Ben but with more possibilities to alter the sound.
By tweaking the X3 global EQ and turning off the speaker sim we could create a Blackstar similar speaker sim (I beleive a speaker sim is only about EQ). The parameters then should be: 660Hz=-3dB, 2.7kHz=+10.8dB, 8.5kHz=-12.8dB, 8.3kHz=-12.6dB. Then just a Chandler real tube stompbox was used. This gave a very close Blackstar setting.
Next thing I guess will be a new analog delay from Behringer for only $100. There is a good 10 minutes demo someone loaded up to youtube.

Congrats..... i have a Seymour Duncan twin tube overdrive and it also is a real tube overdrive pedal, the SD and the Blackstar HT dual both use HT on the valves unlike the Vox big ben which 'starves' the valve inside...i think your HT dual could go up to 300 volts so be careful if your poking around inside ...!!..... the plus side is i found my SD twin tube to be very organic sounding like a real amp cranked i think voiced more like Fender amps...this means the voicing of the pedal might not be to everyones taste as the distortion can be a bit loose on the bottom end for rhythm,i think since the guys at Blackstar are all ex-marshall guys yours might lean in that direction....i have heard great reports about the Blackstar stuff... don't forget to report back with a review in a while........enjoy....... |
