| ...o.k. been gassin for an OD that will push my Orange OR80 & OR120 into borderline redplating, but NOT color the sound at all!!!...tried Emma's RF-1 ReezaFRATzitz(yeah I know it's a Dist. pedal but the guys on the Orange Amp forum rave bout em)...wow talk about an overpriced hyped-up POS...BUT to make a long story short after trying too many pedals I found the magic little box that sends the amps into tonal orgasm !!!!V.S.'s ROUTE 66!! once the amps are dimed and singing the Comp/OD in the 66 pushes evrything over into saturation land...stellar...breathtaking...my Orange's never sounded better. Anybody else on here own one of these superbadass mothers!!!!! If not highly recommended!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...does a TS-808(same op amp)and then some more!!!plus the comp. rulz....worthy piece of gear! |

Totally agree about the reezafratzitz. Just.......meh. I tried the discumbobulator envelope filter as well and wasn't particularly thrilled about that, either. |

Gorans going to like you...he's another fan of the VS Route 66.... as for the redplating..trust me you don't really want that...gets very expensive in parts for the amp...i've just shelled out 120 euro for stuff to get my musicman back on track after the valves went 3 mile island on me...... ..... |

Well Franzoni, I have sold my Route 66. Thinking of down sizing my pedal collection and try to keeping mostly the Boss ones. I got as much for it as I gave when I bought it. But guess if I regret selling? YES I DO! Route 66 is a very, very good pedal and Im going to buy it again when I find one to the right price. The TS808 part of it sounds better than an Ibanez TS808 RI, Ive compared them side by side. But, as I told on this forum many times, the compressor is the nicest part of this pedal, the TS808-clone is in there for free.

I also have GAS The compressor of Route 66 is much better than any of the Boss ones, but Im sure that there are some boutique variants that are even better, but Ive never tried one of the high end ones. The massive amount of gain you could get from the compressor of the 66 is great for overdriving a tube-amp.

I've tried the 66 a bunch of times, and it's a really versatile pedal. In terms of compression, it's really easy to get the tone in your head - in that regard, I think it's better than some Boss comps - you'd probably want a CS-2 and 3 to get the range found in the 66. The OD is very smooth and sweet, very good 808 tone.
Has anyone compared an older 66 to the newest issue? Were they ever made outside China or am I imagining things?
On an aside.. another good 808 clone is the single-hammond Maxon OD-808 - adds that scream on almost any amp and at any gain setting (killer for extreme metal). <-the only emoticon with the \m/ horns.

| ...from what i understand the units from the first run are a bit noisey in the Comp. area...but Keeley mods fix it...the second run models are equiped w/ the Keeley mod outta the box...the third & current run are the same as the second ones but have shitty switches in em...also if you have an earlier model i think they offer the mod for free!!!!!! |

Tonal orgasm is a bit too finalizing of a term for me. To me the term orgasm signifies completion. As in "I'm done, hope you are as well". I would term this as a 4 "S" moment. Semi-Sonic Scrotal Satisfaction. (pre-smeg)
