I always thought only active stuff needs batteries...
it's not a joke question btw |

Some manufacturers do the same thing on bypass loopers. The LED is to show it's bypassed or not, and the only reason you need power to the pedal is to run the LED. |

| How much does that cost? I tried looking but couldn't find the price for it. I want one, it would be much easier than having my volume pedal [the wah type] take up space, not to mention less weight. |

Is that a flashing "sarcasm" sign I can see on your forehead Dr. Bob? |

This would be super easy to make - maybe $30 in parts. You would need:
1 x box 1 x 3PDT stomp switch 1 x LED 1 x LED resistor (say 2k) 1 x battery snap 1 x 9VDC connector 1 x 500k log potentiometer - if it's for high impedance (guitar) 1 x knob 1 x stereo jack 1 x mono jack Hook-up wire

Skip the LED and the parts list becomes (even cheaper):
1 x box 1 x 2PDT stomp switch 1 x 500k log potentiometer - if it's for high impedance (guitar) 1 x knob 2 x mono jack Hook-up wire

Sweet, I already have all of that, besides a good pedal box and the switch. But I actually want to incorperate it into my SD-1, I'm not sure if the 500k pot will fit but I'm sure I can figure something out. This way I can variably control the volume input at the switch of a button. |

| was just talking to a buddy bout this the other day....shame on EH for marketing this product like an attenuator...which it isnt... just a volume pedal...many people think this is the answer to getting out of dropping over $300 on a THD Hotplate...wrong...doesn't even remotely do the same thing...a volume pedal YES!! attenuator NO!!! a true ATT. must connect between the amp and cab...period!!!! |

| Hmmm... "attenuator" is an engineering term meaning a device that attenuates "something". It is probably equally valid to talk about a signal level attenuator (this one) and a power attenuator (between speaker and amp). |

agreed...but how many players know that? I think EH knew perfectly well that they would sell some units by passing this thing off as an att....i freq. a few other forums on the net and you wouldn't believe the people that are gassin for this baby because they think it'll take their 100w. amps down to bedroom volume lvl.(it will but your amp isn't really being pushed)...just my opinion that it's a bogus product...so far the only thing EH has done that is worthless....buy a Boss EQ.....it'll do what this thing does in spades ...and more!!!!!!!! |
