G'day! I've had a bunch of new members email me directly recently about "technical support" and so I wanted to help everyone understand where I stand about this.

If you are a new member who has not posted yet (or with only a few posts) please do not send me emails directly asking for technical support. I will not reply. Please post your question on the forum - someone will generally be able to help you.

Please be aware that no one here is compensated for providing technical help. We do this because we enjoy working on/playing with Boss pedals. We aren't employees of Boss or Roland, and we aren't "doing it for money".

Thanks for your understanding!

Hi Laurie, Guys & New Members.

--- Two posts on the same subject in 2 days ---

Not wanting to start a flame session, but.

I am in the same boat Laurie.
I too have recently received a number of Technical Support requests, via the forum's email service.
All were typically from new members who have "never" posted.

I too will never reply to such a emails, as the members here know all too well,
that we get hit by spammers posing as new members.
And while the new members might be genuine members.
No-one can guarantee that they are not spammers, posing as new members
& seeking direct links to our email accounts.

I will also guess, that the other Tech's on the forum also received similar emails?

I have made it known that I will always post my replies to the forum, as it gives everyone a chance to help out, or at least learn from the issue.

I have also had a number of retail business send me email via the forum.
At least most of those, where upfront enough to tell me that they were a commercial business.

I guess that there is no real answer to this issue, other than being vocal about it.

I have developed some really great friendships because of this forum, & I would hate to have to remove the option to email me.

One of my personal gripes about some of these emails, is that they are written in a tone, as if they are my long lost friends.
And have been communication with me for many years.

Some are just simple & plain - I found you on Bossarea, I need a service manual/schematic for ......

I also understand that some people are shy & would prefer to remain anonymous,
but that's why the Forum community exist, & is here to try & help.

So once again please post all your requests for help-support to the forum.
And if you are a commercial business, be honest & tell us that fact as well.
Most times the guys here "will" help you out, or at least point you in the right direction.

If anyone else has been getting requests in their PM, please respond here.
Unless you feel you should PM me regarding this issue.

The views opinions & comments here are my own.

Regards Dr. Bob
