I know it's not the correct place (also a double post, sorry), but I got pretty excited;

http://www.roland.com/products/en/RE-20/index.html

Guess it will be presented at the Frankfurt Musik Messe today....

I'm starting to feel that a Twin Pedal reissue of the VB2 is just coming closer and closer...

i must admit this looks really cool!

i know the original space echo was a massive unit, and that Boss have not reissued any of its compact pedals to date. but could this be seen as a 're-issue'?

Will we see compacts being reissued in the future????

The RE-20 will deffo be on my shopping list though!!

Wow, thanks for the headsup Mikke. Definitely one to get.
I'm starting to hate Roland. They're grabbing all my money.

Isn't a reissue more of a exact replica of the original.. like Ibanez' TS-9 reissues???

If BOSS ever start making reissues of their old stompboxes look for my collection in the Selling forum - then I'll start Pearlarea, Korgarea or perhaps Yamahaarea ...

What does the space echo sound like? Can it be compared to the RV-* or the DM-* pedals? It looks very cool. Very "70s", don't you think?

Vim : no... it's nothing like this. Not a reissu, nor a replica. The original Space Echo (RE-201) is a tape unit, so this one is a modeling of the original.

Roland or Boss would never do reissu. Or I hope so. It would break theyr reputation. Some brands live on theyr past glory (Maxon and the TS-808... ), some are innovators. Boss allways stand for innovation, they couldn't really do reissu, it would go against this.

I should have put the word "reissue" in my first post in quotations maybe :)

I wasn't referring to this as being a reissue (althought it sort of is...by function and name), but merely voicing my hopes that they will equally "reissue" the Vibrato pedal VB-2 in some form. The twin pedal would be a great platform...

Line 6 makes a pretty good Space Chorus as well. If you check their sample site they have some great mp3s of deep space echo swell.

Hi BossHog
Are you talking about the Space Chorus floor pedal, that line 6 make?

If so, I have one of these, I will be truthful and tell you that, I have spent many hours trying to get a good sound out of mine, with limited success.

I have only run it in MONO, I have not tried a stereo 2 amp set up.
I have become very disillusioned with this pedal.
It has a CE-2 emulation & I have never been able to get it to sound anything remotely like my prized CE-2 collection.

I spent time reading the manual, & tried the suggested settings.
I even down loaded the demo video, & even the demonstrator, can't get
a reasonable chorus out of it, & he just seems to fudge it, till the video ends?

The Tri-Chorus setting is bland.

I have always held a high regard for Line 6 products, but this one let me down, it sits gathering dust, if I was to get mugged, I would throw it at the offender, it would probably kill hin-her, this is one VERY heavy in weight pedal.

If you or anyone has suggestions or settings for the Space Chorus, I am all ears.
I thought it was me not being able to get to grips with this Chorus, but a have let other friends loan it, & they have all had unfavorable results with it.

Sorry to be so negative.
I'm not too fussed though, I bought mine for about $50Au, with box & manuals.

Now on a POSITIVE note, my line 6 DL4 delay modeler, is a dream, it has some of the nicest delay emulations that I have heard.
I have access to a Roland Space Echo, the real one, and the DL4 does one fine job of emulating it, without the tape hiss.
In the small studio that frequent & help to maintain, The Roland Space Echo is used on vocals & guitar, used in moderation, it add real life to the sound.

I took the DL4 down to do an A-B test, & it was really spot on.
The tapes for the Space Echo are expensive here in Australia, & we do tape heads have to be maintained, every so often, for optimumm recording results.
I left the DL4 with the studio for a short time, & they have decided to purchase one, not to mention all the other effects that the DL4 has built in.
It also has a Slow Gear effect & reverse delay.

Just goes to show, that you win some & you loose some.

Regards Dr. Bob
