The concept of "pedal running through a bass" confuses me, I must say... I think you mean the contrary, running your bass through guitar pedals ?
Almost all Boss pedal work great on bass, IMO. Excepted the OD/Dist units, and the phasers (PH-2/3 (haven't tested the 1)). Plus some like AW-2, CS-3...
I personnaly use a CE-2, TW-1 (eats low end, but not enough to put it away), PQ-3B, LS-2, OC-2, DD-6. |

I quite like Xtortion too. it doesn't give the natural bass sound but it's the best distortion for bass IMO. any normal pedal with bass input is good too, but i guess you would have figured that out already |

| DC-3 works very nicely with bass (DC-2 eats the low-end). |

i have several pedals that work well with my bass. OC2, HM2, OD2, CS3, DD3, PW2 isn't too bad, and i'm after an AC 2 to add a little 'woodiness' to my EUB. of course the bass specifics are great as well! |

| Has anyone tried out the -2B series of Boss pedals? I was kind of interested in collecting this whole series. It seems as though they are kind of rare and might be worth something someday, unless they totally suck. So far I only have the LM-2B which is a fine pedal. |

PQ-3B is one of the best pedal EQ available... But I love parametrics EQ, so maybe...
BF-2B and CE-2B are great, just do a good work.
Ge-7B is simple and efficient.
I love the way Boss decided bass players would not have much use of some beautiful colors. This brown color is almost an insult to bass players, like "well, we designed a bass pedals line for you, isn't that enough for you ??? You should be happy..." |

| Sadly or not so sadly I find that mostly to be true. That so many bassists are purest when it comes to bass and they dont even use an EQ unless it's built into the amp. Most bassists I've seen who do use a pedal, only use the TU-2. It all depends on the style of music, but I remember when I was in my first band (in which I played bass) I came in the second week or so of practice with my shiny new ODB-3 and man did they hate that, I thought I was ready to rock, but with other distorted guitars that thing just becomes a wall of static almost. Afterwards I stuck to just the straight bass sound, which was nice coming out of the newly purchased Ampeg amp I had. So yeah it makes sense for them not to market too much as far as Bass players go, because they aren't really the people that buy pedals. Plus some of the current Boss Bass Pedals out now, really suck. Like that LMB-3, man is that thing hissy, and the last thing I want is a hissy bass. |

my favorite Boss 'guitar' pedal used with a bass is easily the FZ-2. it's pretty much a one-trick pony, but when that trick sounds like Jerry Only's bass tone on old Misfits records, it's really fun to play around with. unfortunately, the FZ-2 seems to eat low end, so I bought another FZ-2 and had it modded with a 'blend' (distortion/clean) pot, and now it sounds grrrrreat! if you like distorto-bass every now and then, do yourself a favor and mod an FZ-2 now, so you can have your fuzz and low end too!
for non-Boss pedals (sorry! sacrilege, I know!), I just bought a SansAmp programmable bass driver DI pedal, and its distortion is MUCH more useful and musical-sounding than the Boss ODB-3. to my ears, nothing beats a real Ampeg SVT bass amp, but this pedal comes closest to a real SVT, IMHO. |

How does running a guitar through bass pedals sound?
I love a huge fat end with thick distortion that sounds like its from a bass. I dont use chorus too much because it gets rid of it completely. Will running a guitar through the -2B pedals make it sound more bass-like? |

I use a PQ-3B (highly recommended!) an LM-2B, a PS-3 (also highly recommended) an RV-2 and an EH-2 (once again...) I was curois how a fuzz sounds on bass: does it gives a nice, smooth edge or does it sound very harsh? |
