hi guys! anybody has a digitech screamin' blues? i saw one online and since i won't be able to test it before buying, i'd like to know how it sounds (compared to a boss od). i read good opinions about the bad monkey somewhere in this forum. i'm particularly attracted to the screamin' blues since it has a low and high eq and its labeled overdrive/distortion. many think both pedals seem to piss all over the tubescreamer. thanks.

I have both, I like the Bad Monkey the most, this really "piss all over" a Tube sceamer, mostly because the very good tone controls.

Screamin Blues is also very, very good, more clean than the Monkey and quite close to BD-2 soundwise. Its very trebly just as BD-2, but keeping the high knob down you kan get a serious blues or rock tone.

thanks goran! so the screamin' blues is cleaner than the bad monkey? i thought the monkey had lesser gain. in a digitech magazine ad, it had a distortometer which compared the distortion of 4 different digitech pedals and the monkey had 20-60, while the blues had 40-70. since both pedals are that good, isn't it sad they are not BOSS? do you think boss should put low and hi eq on its overdrive and distortion pedals. i think its only the hm-2, -3 and mt-2 which have lo and hi eq, if i'm not mistaken.anyway, thanks again for your help! mabuhay

I meant that Screamin blues has less gain at moderate settings, just like BD-2 the gain goes up very much past 12 o clock. Screamin I s much more transparent.
And, yes, I would love if Boss used low and high controls.

ok. i get the idea. lets hope boss read this and put lo and hi eq when they make the od-4, bs-3 or ds-3? wishful thinking.

thanks bill4117. i already did and it sounds very good. i even did a side-by-side comparison/listening with the boss od-3 and its difficult to decide between the two since they're almost equal in terms of sound.price-wise, the monkey wins however since i can almost buy two monkeys or a monkey and screaming blues for the price of one od-3. so its also now loyalty to boss or financial realities and more pedals. hmm, the choices that we have to make...

Of course you have to be loyal to Boss

No, if you get both Bad Monkey and Screamin Blues for the same money as a OD-3, go for the Digitech pedals. They are both great and useful. That goes for OD-3 too, one of the best ods Boss ever made.

thanks goran! i still have about 4 nights before i go to the city and make the big decision. most opinions about the three pedals are really good, so the playing test with my guitar will probably be the deciding factor.
