Hello,
I just bought a CS-1 and noticed that the PCB is visible through two knockouts/ holes in the Battery compartment, one on the side and the other on the bottom. None of my other Boss pedals have these knockouts? Can someone tell me if this is normal or if the guy before me modded it?

such 'two hole' battery compartments are normal but rare, and I doubt anyone modded your pedal. I have a ca. 1980 MIJ BF-2, and it has the same two holes in its battery compartment. other Boss pedals made around then might also have two holes.

** I forgot to mention, 'The Boss Book' also illustrates these "two hole" battery compartments. see here for bibliographic info:

Thanks a lot for the help, that puts my mind at ease. It didn't look like a Mod unless it was done by a Pro.
