Hi,
I have had an old japanese dd3 for a long time now and It just stopped working on me. The light won't turn on and sound will not pass through it. Also, I had to take it off of my pedalboard because suddenly all of my other effects that where hooked up to the same chain couldn't get power. (this stopped when I removed the dd3) the only thing I can think of is I think that someone might have tried to plug a 9 volt ac adapter instead of a dc into the pedal at my last gig. I have a show on friday and I kind of need it to use the pedal does anyone know if there is anyone around los angeles who could fix it or if there is something I could do to get it working again?

Hi jgerowitz and welcome!!
The early DD-3 pedals are identical to the DD-2. You can tell if this is true for yours if you open it up and there is a single huge chip running from side to side of the circuit board (the so called "long chip"). If you have a long chip, please see this thread: http://www.bossarea.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=5675
If you don't have a long chip, let us know what you see inside (pics are best) and we'll take it from there. |

Sounds like you might have a damaged protection Zener/Diode.
Once we know which version of the DD-3 you have, it help us help you.
And please read the other thread about the faulty DD-2, from the past few days.
In Mods & Technical - Internal Pics thread:
There is a pic of the newer SQUARE CHIP DD-3A on PAGE 10 from ugufru.
And a DD-3 LONG CHIP on PAGE 1 from Bossaea.
Hope this helps you identify your DD-3?
If not look over on Stinkfoots site, he has a page with all the different versions of the DD-3.
Go buy a 11VDC or the closest you can find, probably a 12VDC 1 Watt zener diode, next time you are out shopping.
