Got mine today, had five minutes play with it.
Talk to me about dialing in sounds, any tips?
How well is the thing meant to track etc etc?
Anyone have a manual? Why is the light flashing when I hold teh pedal down?
Sorry, to be a pain...
If it's not going to work, it's going striaght back on the 'bay... |

The light's flashing because you're in "hold mode" - a bit like the Hold on a DD-3, where the pedal loops a short section of sound so that you can play over it.
Try getting a drone type synth sound (turn up the decay control), hold the pedal down until the light flashes... and then you can play over it.
Synth pedals are always a bit of pain - do you know how a conventional synth works? |

hey ! talking about SYB-3 ?
here I am !
http://www.myspace.com/kulten all synth sounds with SYB
two video demos I made :
SYB-3 :http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=6RkWsWp8ll0
SYB-5 : http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=I_dx-G1bZGA
some samples :
SYB-3 SAW http://site.voila.fr/tech/BOSSvs.mp3
SYB-5 SAW with LFO : http://site.voila.fr/sounds/SAW_LFO.mp3
SYB-5 SQUARE with LFO : http://site.voila.fr/sounds/SQUARE_LFO.mp3
SYB-3 SAW - 1 oct. http://site.voila.fr/syb3/SAW.mp3
SYB-3 NOISE http://site.voila.fr/syb3/NOISE.mp3
SYB-3 PWM LEAD http://site.voila.fr/syb3/PWM.mp3
SYB-5 PULSE in TALKING MODE : http://site.voila.fr/sounds/PULSE_2.mp3
SYB-3 : deep saw waveform, weak square, powerfull filter, white noise, good autowah.
SYB-5 : fatter square waveform, sharper filter, no autowah but a "LFO rate" knob, talking mode, better tracking, expression input for an expression pedal Roland EV-5 is a cool idea.
BOSS SYB-3 specs :
- DSP synth - saw, square, pwm - -1 octave - noise effect - wave shape normal/reverse - autowah normal/reverse - freq / res / decay /sens / mode knobs - stereo outputs
BOSS SYB-5 specs :
- DSP synth - saw, square, pulse 1, pulse 2, pwm - double square sound, -1 octave, - LFO rate effect - wave shape normal/reverse - freq / res / decay / rate / mode knobs - stereo outputs - expression pedal input
to use with a bass guitar, SYB-5 is better. to play electro and experimental sounds, SYB-3 is better. |

with a guitare : SYB are monophonic, very weird experience with a guitare, but autowahs and filters are OK (not mono like the synth sounds).
for exemple : my tracks and demos are made with a drum machine (exept BOSSvs, made with a simple keyboard into the SYB-3).
you can plug anything you want. |

Hey, thanks for yor words. I've been able to have much more of a play this evening, and it's a great little toy.
Very fat and thick sounding.
Cheers |
