Hi guys!
I'm thinking of buying a compact wah but I only find info about expresion/volume pedals like the FW-10.
Are Boss' wah stompboxes any good at all? I don't mind letting it doing the wah for me.
What's your favourite? TW-1? FT-2? AW-2? AW-3?
Thanks! |

The PW-10 is pretty good, just leave the distortion settings alone. Oh, and disable the heel switch, dumb design |

The AW2 has a pretty good wah sound to it, but the controls are to sensitive. Modulation effect kinda cool, The FT2 is way more flexible with up/down, not so pronounced, and you can add a expression pedal to it for a "wow-pedal" Heard the TW1 was a good one... Both the TW1 and AW2 have an inductor inside to add to the mojo |

Yes, I've seen the demos on youtube...
Anyway, I'm not interested in the PW-10, sorry if I mislead you all. I want to know your opinion about the compact ones: TW-1, FT-2, AW-2 and AW-3. They have little presence on this forum as well as on youtube, and I'd like to learn more about them since they're automatic... I can live without an expression pedal right now.
Thanks everyone! Keep your reviews coming please. |

I'm going to buy a FT-2 and a AW-3 one day. The AW-3 because of the Humanizer function and the additional bass guitar input and the FT-2 because of its versatility ("Q" can be varied!!). I think the FT-2 outmatches the AW-2, but I have to buy a AW-2 then to prove that!
I want that FT-2 badly! Anyone wanna swap it for a XT-2? |

| i have two T-Wahs and an AW-2. The AW-2 is horrible. The T-Wah is great - i got two so i could do funky with stereo keyboards. |

I had one of those and wasn't impressed with it at all. It still eats low end, the only difference between the bass and guitar input is the lower crossover frequency of the filter.
Needless to say, as a bassplayer I don't like pedals that eat low end. |

Interesting... I was thinking on getting a FT-2 or a TW-1, but the first one seems a bit rare (only two years in production) and the latter has to be expensive 'cos it's ooooooold.
Will I be able to do a proper cover of 'Papa was a rolling stone' with one of those? Love that song! |

That's not a big problem for me since I'd like to use bass wah sounds when playing solo. I have got a Stanley Clarke type sound character that doesn't need that loooooow frequencies. I think that I will like it, because my OC-3 and BF-3's bass inputs are reacting in the right way I want. And I know the sound and the functions of the AW-3 since I was selling BOSS pedals till our BOSS distribution contract ended 2003 and I think that the Humanizer is quite funny now and then. |

It sure is, but I couldn't find a real use for it, so I sold the pedal again. I do have a nice Morley dual bass wah lying around that also sounds great with guitar (I play both instruments). |

Does every effect need a real use? Sometimes I love the really weird effects - the stranger the better! Using them live or for recording is not always recommendable. |

Owned them all, except the AW-3 - FT-2 is my favourite by a long way. The Q control, expression jack and up/down selector makes it the most versatile by far. The TW-1 sounds pretty good, but was quite tricky to set the sensitivity just right (if you get chords triggering it, when you play single notes, it's hard to trigger: If you get it sounding good with single notes, chords trigger it too much - This is just my experience with humbuckers). AW-2 only does "up-sweep" autowah, and I could find no use for the "modulated/rate-based" wah side of it: Plus, it's a bit hissy. |

Very useful info, Leeroyfunk, thank you very much!
I think I'll go for a FT-2, seems a bit hard to get though... |
