Hello!
i'm new here, nice forum!
I have the posibility to buy a DS-2 with a defect. It just doesn't work, the LED works, but there is just no signal. I know how to use a soldering gun. I really like the DS-2, but i don't want to pay a lot. Does anyone have any tips? is it clever to buy this pedal? what could be the defect?
thanks! |

It could be a number of things that would give you that. As simple as a bad jack or a broken wire or as difficult to troubleshoot as a bad transistor or other component that you'd probably need a schematic and an oscilloscope and volt meter to find. I'm finding that a lot of the bad pedals I get have been "modified" by someone who butchers up the solder joints and the wiring. A lot have bad components in them, too. It's about 50/50.
Grace and peace,
Steve

| Unless the pedal is still under warranty I don't think sending it to Roland would be cheap. Even a local tech won't do much work before the price of service overruns the value of the pedal. |

yeah, I know.. I found a electric scheme, the date of manufacture is february 1997, so the warranty is gone fo al long time. The pedal looks good, no excessive damages, so I think it is a broken component. I can buy it for 15,- euro's is it clever to buy it for this price? |

| That sounds like a reasonable price. Sooner or later you're probably going to figure out what's wrong with it and even if you don't, you will learn a lot about troubleshooting. |

| you've got point, maybe i'll just buy it. It's also possible, that it is just an easy problem. A working tubodist for only 15 euro's is worth the risk! |
