I picked up an HM-2 off ebay, works fine on the battery, but if i try and use my BOSS PSA-240, the LED barely comes on and the sound is like a synth through a fuzzbox, which gates quite quickly.
The PSA is rated at 9amps off the top of my head, the HM-2 page says it needs 10. Is one amp difference causing the problem?
I tried it with an old SEGA Megadrive 9v PSA, and it works okay, but the label rubbed off that years ago.
Any ideas? I hate using batteries..... |

The HM-2 needs 10mA. That's 0.01A. A PSA adapter can deliver 200mA or 0.2A so the adapter should be perfectly able to deliver the needed current.
I think it is more likely that your HM-2 wants a 12V ACA adapter instead of the 9V PSA. You can connect it together with another pedal made for the PSA adapter to get around the problem.
Have a look at the ACA adapter page for more information: http://www.bossarea.com/other/aca.asp |

ah, well firstly, thanks for corecting my absence of electrical knowledge :)
Yeah, the HM-2 wants the ACA-240, and the description on your ACA page is pretty spot on, so thanks for that. This site rules :)
My MZ-2 has just arrived from ebay, and the back says PSA 9v, so that one should work fine with my PSA 240 shouldn't it?

| Yes, the MZ-2 should work fine with the PSA. If you connect both the HM-2 and the MZ-2 to the PSA adapter using a daisy chain cable the HM-2 will get full power too. |

I probably won't be using them together :D
I did panic initially because i thought i'd bought a dodgy pedal, this is the first time i've had this problem.
