hi all ... i just got myself a new seymour duncan twin tube classic and it sounds animal..... i bought it on spec and because of some of the reviews i had seen about it...any of you guys and gals who have read any of my previous posts will know i'm into valves and valve amps and this pedal is just the icing on the cake..it has two channels one for rythmn and one for lead and it has a serious amount of output...unlike a lot of valve overdrive pedals it uses military spec 6021's miniature valves with a high plate voltage so the valves are being pushed hard and the sound is super....don't worry i'm still using my cs3,tr2,ls2,2xdd3's and my ch1 in my setup its just with my squier strat with the clapton specs i was having trouble with the fz3,ds1 and the od2 especially with the amount of output from them..someone wrote in a review i read about this pedal that it was real easy to get the eric johnson type of tone with it.... i would also add dave gilmour as well..... ...... |

Hi FRANZONI Congratulations on the new addition to your family.
As the proud new father of little Duncan, you should post up some pics of him. Maybe even some sound files, of you & him singing together.
Regards Dr. Bob |

Hi Dr Bob...yes the G.A.S has got hold,i'll try to post a pic of my new setup later..i'm just waiting for the dust to settle with mrs franzoni because i have my eye on a bi stereo chorus by analogman .. its basically two chorus pedals in one so you can have a normal chorusy sound and have the other one for a leslie type setting if you want.....check him out www.analogman.com....
P.S... i just spent another 60 euro on a pedalboard cable kit from planet waves for my new baby.....just as well i back gigging at the weekends..!!......... |

Hi FRANZONI You reckon the GAS got you.
I'm too scared to even tell you how hard GAS bit my butt today. I came home with way ---- too much.
It all started out with 2 CD's last night, when I went to a Folk Night at our local Folk Club. It's a nice change of pace, & it keeps my ears fresh. I always come home very chilled out.
I fell in love with the voice, of a local female folk singer, I'm listening to her right now. And can this woman finger pick, a Maton acoustic.
Regards Dr. Bob

Hi Dr Bob and all......does this mean doc that your persuading yourself that you need a new maton acoustic..?? i've heard good things about them ...tommy emmanuel plays them as far as i know..i used the new pedal last night on a gig and it sounds great..the rythmn channel is a little clearer for rock n roll/slightly dirty type of lead/rythmn sounds..the lead channel is voiced differently its a lot thicker and fat sounding but sounds good as well,i had to rein the volume in as this pedal has some serious amount of output.....now the bad news...the marshall stopped working in the middle of the gig last night.. after the gig i found that the speaker lead had come out of the input jack on the cab so the amp had no load on the output....i hope i didn't burn out the output tranny...i only put a new hi/lo switch in the musicman last week..the joys of owning vintage valve equipment....!! i have heard of this happening to people before where the pressure inside the cab pushed the lead out but i thought it was only when they were using big stacks at full volume.... |

Hi FRANZONI
You haven't been drinking with that "Murphy: fella, have you?
I hope you Marshall is ok. maybe look at fitting, those Speakon locking connectors to your cabinets, I use them a lot, easy to wire up, use +1 and -1 of the four connections.
Glad to hear, that your twin tube classic pedal, was a great success.
No, I won't be looking at a getting a Maton Acoustic, great company, that builds great guitars, and they are only about 20 mins from my place. Not to mention, that we have quite a collection of acoustics, here already.
I just spent way too much on some GAS'ed up gear over the weekend.
Regards Dr. Bob |

I think it's pretty rare anyone on bossarea.com DOESN'T have a bout of GAS every now and again.
You can only resist the temptation for so long!!!
I would love a new Maton but then what would I do with two great acoustics?!? |

Hi Ronster You could always keep one in an Altered tunning. We are a multi Acoustic family, & they all sound different, and have a different character.
I recently bought two in a single day, off the same dealer. Big GAS day, as I also got a Boss PW-10 Wah of him as well. Not to mention another HM-2.
Remember, you have to love all of them equally, Just like your children.

Hi Dr Bob, yeah you are right. Love them ALL!
What do you think of the PW-10? I've heard mixed things about that wah. I would be interested to know what you think.
Cheers

Hi Ronster quote: I've heard mixed things about that wah.
My feelings exactly (mixed feelings) In fact they were so mixed, that went out and bought an as new Revision C Crybaby.....
I guess it's the (got to have a real one) Gas syndrome.
The PW-10 is a bitch to set patch volume on, but I will still be keeping it for now. I may have more time for it in the future.
I will be modding, the Crybaby I bought, I also have an original JEN Crybaby from the 70's, with a Red Fasel inductor. The new one, sounds nothing like my Jen, but the Icar pot finally went south on the Jen.
The PW-10 has MASSIVE volume jumps, even with the built it presets, the only way I was able to tame it, was to put my Boss LM-2 after it.. I believe this is one of the major complaints about the PW-10.
The volume jumps will frighten the sh!t out of you, if you don't expect them.
Still it's a very well made pedal, it's COSM, It might be a good test bed for some mods.
I took some internal pics of it, a few weeks ago. People also say that the pedal has limited travel, & that the DC in socket is too low, & gets mashed into the carpet, & can break the plug socket, & connections.
I played the Pw-10 for about 30 mins here & there, & out it back into its box. Where it's resting, (shhhhhhhhhh) for the time being.
Regards Dr. Bob

| Thanks Dr Bob for your thoughts. I've been asking around about Wahs as I think that's what I would like to get next but there are so many good one out there. At the moment I like the thought of the Dimebag Wah (as suggested by Stratosphere I think) but I'm still researching! |

The pot in my dunlop wah is on its way south so i'm looking for a wah myself..i know i could just put a new pot in it but i've heard some good things about the teese wah pedal and the budda one as well ...i would probably have to ship them in from the states, the budda is about $170 and the teese is a bit dearer at about $250... i also remember a make of wah pedals that are pretty unique... snarling dogs.... the pedal is in the shape of your foot and i think the picture of the dog on the fronts eyes light up when its on....i heard they sound pretty good too..but the orginal maker died a couple of years ago i don't know who makes them now..... |

FRANZONI - if/when you get the analogman bi-chorus let us know how it is.
I have a number of analogman pedals:
ts-9 with the 808/silver mod sd-9 with the 808/silver mod & push pull mod DS-1 Bi-comp
Currently the last three are on my board. I really like his stuff.
I have a H&K Rotosphere on my board so it covers my chorus & Leslie needs, but Id love to have something smaller & lighter to replace it.
Let us know.

Hi zestystrat....yeah bro' i'm planning on probably getting it in the next couple of months ...i'm just letting the dust settle with mrs franzoni over the seymour duncan twin tube classic... (got some good reports from my fellow band members about the sound) hopefully i'll be able to get the wah as well off him..its just importing stuff from the states means i get caught for tax again in ireland... and then these sort of pedals because their handbuilt and small companies they have a big backlog of orders, but things are looking up as we have a few gigs starting to roll in so that should cover things.I'm in the process of trying to get a couple of new amps as well....something a bit more portable and lighter(thinking the rivera pubster 40 watt)i have franzoni number three on the way so as the doc said better get all this G.A.S out of my system soon.....
p.s ...did i mention i'm looking out for a analog delay as well.. |

Right there with ya, just had my 1st 5 months ago - gotta love those first 2 months
Back on topic, I waited a very long time on a waiting list for the bi-comp and then was out of work when my name came up I wound up finding the cash tho. It's a great unit. I think compression is the most misused an misunderstood fx.
With my amp I go the opposite route I lung around a 1969 Fender twin in a flight case. Lets just say I'm in heaven when I'm playing, and when I pack the truck, not so much. |
