Hi!
Im not sure, but I think that it does the effect that the battery does when using one in a for example fuzz-pedal. Some people says that fuzz and more effects sounds better cause of the battery as a part of the board - in a way. Hard to explain in english and because that I really dont know for my self why. I started a thread in a forum in sweden about musicgear and asked why a battery sounds better in some pedals v.s adapter. And then I freely had an idea that it maybe could be possible to make a ghost-battery with some electronical crap inside that make the sound like it was driven on battery but thru a adapter. But someone already have had that idea and I was send this link. Hmm, did you understand my explanation? Or maybe I answear something that you dont asked for.

Your the man when it comes to this stuff Doc.. all i wil say is this guy who is the main man in the gigrig writes an article every month about vintage pedals in a magazine i get so i would reckon these is some method in the madness here,he comes across as a person who believes in what he does and not some guy out to just make a quick buck.....what the difference is to an normal isolated supply like the the more expensive pedalpower stuff or DC brick etc.. i don't know..what i have read is some players like Eric Johnson swear there is an improved sound out of fuzz pedals when used with a battery and at the front of any other pedals in the chain and i've read reports of people saying that the got better tones out of the FZ-2 and 3 when run off batteries....i know some people who would say it's all a load of audiophile hooey..... maybe in a recording scenario it might make a difference but in a a live situation i don't think so...... just my two cents... |

Hi FRANZONI & Guys
Thinking out loud. (This thing has had me thinking almost all day) - I even managed to tick off my friend Justin.
Regarding the 9V battery size unit. When you plug in the DC plug pack, it disconnects the internal battery, or whatever is connected to it, like this battery simulator the guy is selling.
So I fail to see how this thing actually works, or will benefit your tone.
Now the external in-series unit is a different matter. I would welcome a better explanation of this, from the guy selling these?
Or, am I missing something really obvious!
Laurie - Stinkfoot - MoonWalker - Christo - Ron Novy - TKO Ken - Melanhead. Help me out here

Perpetual motion device ? Miniature Cold Fussion power ?
I was expecting a battery " starve " device that emulates a dying battery.

Hi Racer X Apologies for leaving you off my "HELP ME" List. Forgot you know about Ge. & Hot glass things.
So please explain to me how F K that works, when the Battery get's Disconnected, by the Switch in the DC in socket.
I think I'm going to go for a walk around the lake, with my iPod (Cranked), & listen to the New AC/DC album.
And I know a guy down the street, calls himself Merlin, he always wears a black outfit with a long cape, that has a crescent moon on the back. Always carries some long thin stick, with a 5-pointed star on the end, that sparkles in the sunlight.
Regards Dr. Bob

does the milliamp thing come into play somewhere? if you look at adapters all put out about 500mA while if you look at boss od/dist pedals, most need only about 4.5 to 135 mA for some pedals. i'm not an electronic guy but maybe this makes a difference. my pro tech always mods my adapters to match my pedals. just my untechnical opinion, (literature teachers like me should stick to lit )

"I think I'm going to go for a walk around the lake, with my iPod (Cranked), & listen to the New AC/DC album"
off topic for a minute
there is hope for us all yet....tickets for AC/DC sold out here last week in 2 minutes.... but i didn't get one.... they have a new album out.. and were getting requests every gig for us to do more of their stuff.(we do 'whole lotta rosie' ) i think i can feel 'thunderstruck' erupting out of the fretboard at the next gig....
back on topic
yes i thought that this would be what the device simulated as well the dying battery thing...if Dr Bob and some of our other resident electricial people can't figure it out it makes me a bit suspicious of the whole thing to be honest.... |
