The auction ended without a single bid. Perhaps it was because the seller had no feedback... There has been some talk lately about Ebay scams, so perhaps people are getting a litte more cautious. Especially when it comes to big money.

no bids so far (a consequence of having zero feedback?), but it starts at $450....
(and no, I am not affiliated in any way with the seller of this item.)

If this one wasn't worth $450 it must mean that the guy that paid $840 paid at least $400 for the box alone The logic might not hold completely but it's interesting to see how big the difference is between similar auctions. |

I think its about the buyer feeling secure and bidding with confidence. The SP-1 that went for $840 was sold by a known seller with a feedback score of 1260. Even $450 is a lot of money to take a chance on.
It will be interesting to collect Boss pedals if the boxes alone some day will be worth much of the value of the pedal. Then people might start collecting the boxes instead... |

Well if it would have had a "buy it now" option on that price, Im sure you would have bought it and sold off some less important gear...? |

Hi everybody, this is my first post to the Boss Area forum.
I'm afraid that I'm the evil culprit responsible for the absurd price ($840) the SP-1 sold for. If I hadn't placed my bid it would've gone for a more reasonable $560. I bid $830 in a moment of insanity, sure that I'd win the auction, but I never imagined it would go over $600. But I realize now that people are going to start selling their SP-1's hoping to take advantage of its sudden apparent increase in value, and that's not a good thing if they're all going to have high reserve prices.
I think an SP-1 in mint condition with box is worth $500, but only because it can be resold for the same amount, and probably a lot more in the future.

Congrats on the SP-1. The price was high but I don't think there's many others out there that has a nearly mint SP-1 with box and manual. Have you got any other goodies in your collection? |

I didn't win the auction (sorry, guess I wasn't very clear about that). My bid was $830, but someone else (thismadteaparty) placed a higher bid so they won the SP-1 for $840. If I hadn't placed my bid they would've only had to pay $560. And if they hadn't bid I would've won the auction for $560 as well. I really wanted the SP-1 but I wouldn't have been very happy if I'd won and had to pay the full amount of my ridiculously high bid.
I bought my first Boss pedal 15 years ago (a new MIJ OD-1) but didn't start collecting them until recently. I always thought people who collected things were sort of weird, like stamp collectors, or the little boy I saw on Letterman who collected vacuum cleaners, but then I picked up a Boss pedal on ebay, then another and another, and discovered that collecting is a lot of fun. But I don't just collect them, I use them too and have found that in most cases I prefer using pedals (for both guitar and synths) over digital multi-effects.
At this point I have 21 Boss pedals, all in new or mint condition with box. Goodies include: SG-1 Slow Gear, VB-2 Vibrato, DM-3 Delay, DC-2 Dimension C, DC-3 Digital Dimension, PN-2 Tremelo/Pan, and FT-2 Dynamic Filter. I also have: RV-3, CS-2, PQ-3B, PQ-4, OD-1, DF-2, EH-2, CE-2 (MIJ), CE-3 (MIJ), FZ-3, MT-2, TW-1, XT-2 and DS-1.

| nah, you're not evil DJoseph. you've got 2/3 of the "holy grail" of Boss pedals, so you had no choice but to bid high on the missing 1/3! and the rest of your collection is pretty 'choice' too.... |

I'm starting to wish I had all my pedals Mint in box with manual. All mine are used and chipped without boxes. |

Hi there, I like your honesty about the whole collecting thing and I feel very similar about it, and I am sure many others of us here do.
The whole collecting thing is a little bizarre. I guess the fun is the research, the amount of enery one puts in finding out about little details about pedals [or amps, or guitars or whatever it is we do get passionate about]
The A/B testing, buying similar pedals but one being slightly older ect. all of those are quite strange. Try explaining that to someone who is not into this.
Prices on Ebay are getting a little bizarre too, check this one out here, it is not even a Jap CE-2 but gosh, just have a look:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7369548875&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1
Just a normal pedal, nothing unusual about it, and not even that rare as well, do people not know or.................????
Peace |
