More Aussie music if you have the urge to explore it. The list is not complete, its in no particular order, and I expect no one will agree with my categorisation of the artists
Special mention - The Angels one of the favourite rock bands of my teenage years. Check out the track Take a Long Line - Tommy Emmanuel great classical guitarist. Check out the track Initiation - Richard Clapton not for the musicianship necessarily, but for the emotional connection with my teen years. Check out the tracks Girls on the avenue, Deep Water, and Best Years of Our Lives. - Cold Chisel definitive Australian pub rock. Check out the tracks Khe Sanh, Cheap Wine, and "You Got Nothing I Want. Also check out Jimmy Barnes (the lead vocalist gone solo).
Aussie rock bands that you may not have heard of - these my first picks (in no particular order): - The Cruel Sea - Spiderbait - Skunkhour - Regurgitator - John Butler Trio - Icehouse (formerly known as Flowers) - Hunters and Collectors - The Superjesus - Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs - Jet - Powderfinger - Dragon (really New Zealanders, but they moved to Oz)
Aussie general pop and rock bands that you may not have heard of(not my first picks): - Australian Crawl - Moving Pictures - Little River Band - Hoodoo Gurus - Goanna - The Sports - Ben Lee - Flash and the Pan (AC/DCs Angus Youngs older brother) - Split Enz (really New Zealanders, but they moved to Oz) - The Badloves (I roadied for these guys one night)
And you probably knew all these artists were Australian (or were based in Australia): - AC/DC - INXS - Kylie Minogue (gag) - Silverchair - Midnight Oil - The Bee Gees - Air Supply (gag) - Savage Garden - Delta Goodrem - Men at Work - Crowded House - and just for a chuckle... Rolf Harris (anyone heard of him? )

| TUMBLEWEED was a cool Australian band that I liked. They put out a few cool CDs, then I never really heard or saw anything about them ever again. Any of you Aussies ever heard or know of them? |

My girlfriend's son went trick or treating a few years ago and knocked on Rolf Harris's door without knowing it. He didn't get any candy but came home with a signed picture of him instead |

What about:
Ayers Rock and one of my favorites from back then, Sid Rumpo - I played with the old guitarist, just a few months ago, while I was repairing an old Soundcraft 32Ch desk, in an old farmhouse studio. Hey Lauies2 The caps hadn't been replaced since about 79-81, and it's been powered up 24-7. Or are these bands, a bit too obscure? Regards Dr. Bob
Bob the guitarist from The Angels, and played with the reincarnation of Sky Hooks, Works for Billy Hyde's Music in Blackburn Melbourne Australia. He's a very knowledgeable & nice guy. That guy really know how to punch out a riff, listen to Take a Long Line.
Sky Hooks, there's another Aussie Band. "Living In the 70's" album
What about the band "STARS", I have the album (LP) recorded just before Andy Durant passed away. I wish I had the Andy Durant benefit concert, with some of Australia's great bands.
And what about, Stevie Wright "Stephen Carlton" performing "Evie - Parts 1, 2 & 3", still played on air now & then I was extremely fortunate, to find this album (LP) in as-new condition. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stevie_Wright
Memories... Hmmm .... Regards Dr. Bob |

| So no one has heard of the Aussie band Tumbleweed? Its a shame, as they are a favorite of mine...sort of stoner/garage rockish stuff...I don't know whatever happened to them, as the last CD they put out that I could get in the states was in the mid-90s (I think...). |

Had to look them up on Wikipedia (as least they had an entry ). They look cool, but I've been living in Canada through the time they were active so don't know them at all. |
