The reason i dont think Marshall and Mesa would have signed up is as follows, Marshall is part owned by Korg and Korg and Roland are massive rivals, Mesa wouldnt want to assosiate themselvs with a "Cheap and accessable" product as it would ruin their "Boutique" amp immage.

Id recon a Orange, Laney and Rivera pedals would be more what they may do, altho you never know.

Hi.

Mesa have It`s own V-Twin pedal, so I will be very surprised if they came up with an other brand/manufacture.

Can have it with 40% discount off the price

I know/thought Marshall and Mesa in the past have made their own versions of "amp in a pedal" pedals, so why pay someone else to do something you have already done, and possibly still do? In fact, I recall seeing these Mesa Rectifier pedals with tubes in them, and I thought a lot of people liked them, but then they discontiuned them, and I heard they did that because they felt, or perhaps the accountants figured out, that the rectifier pedals were cutting into their amp sales...

Tubes/valves in a pedal are good... if they are used in the right type of circuit...i.e like my twin tube or the blackstar stuff which have a proper high voltage thing going on...i'm not sure about the mesa stuff although i heard very good reports about it at the time so i suspect that jack is right, the only thing that put me off was the price and availibility at the time(pre internet for franzoni).... i use one of the marshall MG series amps in our rehearsal room/shed,basically it saves me lugging amps around and with the Duncan twin tube i'm getting a pretty good sound out of it on the clean channel..what i normally do is use the duncans crunch channel(i don't use a very dirty sound anyway on this channel sort of a SRV rhythm type thing)and back it of a little with the guitar for cleanish rhythms...the clean channel in the amp is pretty good if lacking a little in depth, the twin tube gives it a little 'sizzle and bite'.....and the lead channel is pure eric clapton/johnson in a box......sorry for going off topic with this it's just since the subject of the mesa v twin came up........

Picked up an FDR-1 on ebay a couple of weeks ago. I've had an ML-2 for a couple of months.

I've found with both that the more I play with them the less i like them. Something about the COSM/DSP i think. It feels like a "you need to adjust yourself to the pedal", rather than the pedal being an extension of how you play. Maybe a more accomplished guitarist would have a different experience.

Anyway, my point is this - if more modelling pedals come out, I'm not sure i'd buy one unles it was used for cheap.

Hi Laurie

Interesting observation!

I remember how pleased you were initially with the FDR-1.
When you PM-ed me about it, & it's built in Vib/Trem. option.

I guess it's a similar reason, that I don't use my GT-3's as much.
Great every now & then, & then you get tired of them.

I remember a story about the Yamaha DX7 FM digital 12 bit keyboards,
after they had been around for a while.
Everyone boasted & GAS-ed over them at first.
Then stories, of them being too clean/digital, started emerging.
Some called it digital fatigue, & some others just sold them off.

The stories continued for quite a long time.

I guess I remembered this, when i was offered that DX9, I spoke to you about, I passed it up even though it was just $160au with the aluminum flight case.

Keep us informed.

Regards Dr. Bob

I felt a bit like that about the POD with the distortion sounds after a while it sounds a bit 'plastic'...but using the twin tube as my main source of overdrive and turning a lot of the stuff i don't use off on some of the patches,i getting some great sounds out of it...with the boss modellers you don't have that option....but i agree that the digital stuff can get a bit tiring on the ears, most of my stuff is analogue and the best digital device i ever came across is the DD-3...even with the POD and all the echoes and delays i can get out of it i still have two DD-3's on my 'board..

we probably should start a seperate topic on the pros and cons of digital gear and modelling devices....
