I'd like an amp that I can use in my living room and I want it to have the following specifications.

- A preamp that I can connect to my hifi system.
- Look like a hifi component so it blends in with the rest.
- Remote control so I can change the sound without getting up
- Wireless so I don't need to plug in

Preferably I'd like this to be a modelling amp. The power amp will be an hifi amp and the speakers will be hifi speakers so a valve preamp probably wouldn't sound that good.

Is there anything remotely close to this on the market today?

I can understand where you're coming from... whenever I want to jam along with CDs from behind my drum kit, the remote controls for my stereo and 5-disc CD player really come in handy.

I can't think of anything offhand in one package, but if you want a preamp (line6 offers rackmounted versions of its PODs -- http://line6.com/products/pod/rack/) and a separate wireless receiver, you can put together a small rack system. of course that doesn't address the remote control requirement....

The closest thing i've seen to a classy Hi-Fi sort of look but wouldn't address the other criteria..is Mully FX's amp..i think it's on the first page in the 'lets see your amps' in this section....i have the Rackmount Pod and it's perfect for jamming through a Hi-FI or recording but i don't know of any remote for it(unless it was USBed ito your lap top etc...) and a wireless from the guitar would have to be a seperate unit.....i always wanted two of those mini marshall stacks that look like the real thing either side of the fireplace.... that or two old 50's fender tweed amps....

Electrosonic has some retro 50s style cabinets that look like end tables etc. which are pretty cool. Their Thermosonic & Fireball amps look great too.

Unfortunately, they aren't remote-control, wireless, or look like standard audiophile equipment.

Zvex makes a little amp made for iPods etc.. that may interface to your hifi system.

No luck so far. My hope is that someone from Roland or Line6 reads this post and makes me one

Just a thought:

A Line6 Pocket Pod + a radiotransmitter (e.g. Belkin) to your tuner in your rack. This is approx $150 and complies to 3 out of four of your reqs:

- A preamp that I can connect to my hifi system.
- OK!

- Look like a hifi component so it blends in with the rest.
- No component except for your tuner.

- Remote control so I can change the sound without getting up.
- Pocket pod can hang on your guitar and function as a remote control.

- Wireless so I don't need to plug in.
- Never tried my Belkin for this, but if it is good enough for mp3s it should work for distorted guitar.

I vaguely remember Digitech offering remotes on some of their older rackmounted processors...but you would still have to get a wireless transmitter.....and i don't know if their stuff would meet your criteria for blending in with the Hi-Fi system.....
