I have a DC-2 and when I play clean it sounds slightly broken up underneath the effect. I do have a Duncan Hot Rails in the bridge. Is there any way I can fix this?
It sounds a bit unclear if we are talking about distortion coming from the pedal itself, or if your tone is a little overdriven in the first place?
Judging from other threads here on the forum, unwanted distortion from the pedal might be a result from someone fiddling around with the trimpots inside the pedal.
They were set at an optimum position at the factory, and if adjusted a part of the result might be a distorted tone.
The DC-2 itself is a very quiet pedal, and also has a noise reduction circuitry.
My DC-2 is really dead quit, in fact it's almost as if it lowers the signal just a tiny bit when engaged.
The obvious reason to your problem would be a hot guitar signal, but that's already been suggested.
Are you feeding it enough power? It's quite hungry and I'd advise you to NOT use batteries. I did that before I settled on the right power supply and while it sounds pretty cool when the battery dies on you (in the middle of a gig!) you'll want to use a power supply with the DC-2. A weak battery will result in distorted sound/crappy signal.
