This one is a trick you can do with the good old NS2. An underrated tool in my opinion since most musicians don't use it in the right way.

This topic is aimed at people who have a noisy preamp section on their heads or combos. The trick is to use the NS2 to gate the guitar and the preamp at the same time. The NS2 is the only one that can do this due to its own loop and not even the ISP decimator can do this.

The instructions I made can be found here:

www.thehowling.net/stuff/ns2_x_connection.gif

using with other effects:

* Delays/reverbs place them AFTER the OUTPUT of the NS2 and then to FX LOOP RETURN (or power amp in).

* EQ should be placed BEFORE the RETURN of the NS2 (if you use EQ in the fx loop of your amp)

* EQ should be placed BEFORE the INPUT of the NS2 (if you use EQ after your guitar and then into your amp's input)

hope this would help. Post your results with your amps!

take care \m/

Thanks for that idea.

Will this give you the gate-sound like the one which can be found on the BF-3??

Will this idea work when using a PSA powersupply?

So far I have not really discovered any diffulties with the NS-2 but will try the suggested connections to see if the results are any different.
Cheers

The PSA will work just fine I think. I use another type of 9 Volt PS unit and it works fine.

This connection allows me to have my amp at full gain and full volume (100W all tube) and you can hear an ant's fart.

Serious... It's dead quiet. Zero db kind of quiet.

Also I forgot to mention:

* Delays and reverbs place them AFTER the OUTPUT of the NS2 and then to FX LOOP RETURN (or power amp in).

* EQ should be placed BEFORE the RETURN of the NS2 (if you use EQ in the fx loop of your amp)

* EQ should be placed BEFORE the INPUT of the NS2 (if you use EQ after your guitar and then into your amp's input)
